Do they offer smaller diameter stock? Some of these posts I just don’t understand

That's the only thing to optimize here?

Optimize the stock selection, jeez😂

Dial up the feed rate, if it don’t glow, it’s too slow!

Ok, that’s like turning an entire tree trunk on a lathe to produce 1 toothpick, lol

They gave efficiency the shaft.

I don’t get why they milled a rod like 1 inch out of a 4 inch core of metal?

you can still delete this

decadent

Crazy expensive piece of bar stock to hog down to a pencil 😬

Seems a little wasteful 🤷♂️

Now thats a technique I’ve never seen

The rings of an aluminum tree are denser in the center, therefore the core aluminum is stronger. 🤓

Chipmaxxing

Efficient creation of shavings.

95% waste material, awesome

I make my umbrellas on a lathe

Impressive

Truly sad that those cylinders don't come in smaller radius

i'm ignorant here on m/c tooling/lathes; how come no coolant is used/sprayed and why is the metal not warping due to heat?

Wasting so much

Maximize*

I'm curious what torque this requires, and it doesn't seem to slow down under load at all.

Damnnn

God damn!

@joebarnard I think you need this

So cool, machining such large diameter! Can't even imagine the heat generated on the part.
