In 2014, Elon Musk was asked whether he would stay on as the CEO of Tesla, given that he had his plate full with two companies. (Ten years ago, running 2 major companies was seen as a lot for Elon) He said that he would stay for 4 or 5 years, through 2018 - 2019, to see the ramp of the Model 3 through to completion. After Elon and his team successfully ramped the Model 3 to profitability (which by the way everyone also said was impossible), Elon was supposed to leave and choose a new CEO to run Tesla. Instead, we got the revolutionary 2018 compensation plan that retained Elon as CEO for the future by offering him stock options if he could take Tesla to heights that were considered "laughably impossible" by the media at the time. Against all odds, Elon achieved every single goal in the plan, and Tesla hit a $650 billion market cap. And it didn't stop there, as we all know. Elon stayed as CEO long past when his tour of duty was supposed to be over, and made Tesla a global success story. Then courts struck his comp plan down. Most CEOs would probably leave at this point. You offered me stock options so I would stay on as CEO, the plan got invalidated... why am I still dealing with the daily headaches and insane drama of running this company? But Elon is not most CEOs. He cared about his shareholders, and he stayed and made sure their investment was protected. And shareholders have done very well. Tomorrow, at Tesla's 2025 shareholder meeting, we have a chance to retain Elon for the future, make sure he has control of the company — not Wall Street — and right the wrongs of the 2018 plan. Elon kept his end of the deal for us, let's keep up our end of the deal to him. If we don't, we will realize as we face the impossible task of replacing him just what someone like him is worth. That's why I'm voting yes today with every $TSLA share I own. Who else is with me?

Jensen Huang just validated Elon Musk’s entire ecosystem in a single breath. Not one product. All of it. Huang: “The work he’s doing in Grok, self-driving cars, and Optimus. These are all world-class. Every single one of them is revolutionary. Every single one of them is going to be a gigantic opportunity.” To the public, a chatbot, a car, and a robot look like three separate bets. They are one project. The total automation of human cognition and physical labor. A digital brain. A spatial nervous system. A physical body. Musk is building all three simultaneously. Huang is supplying the compute to fuse them. Huang: “We do a lot of business with Tesla and xAI. Elon is an extraordinary engineer, and I love working with him. We’ve built some amazing computers together, and we’re going to build many more.” This is not a vendor relationship. It is the most consequential technological alliance in history and most people think it is a business partnership. Then Huang said what should end every debate about Optimus. Huang: “This is the first robot that really has a chance to achieve the high volume and technology scale necessary to advance technology.” Huang: “Right around the corner. Likely to be the next multi-trillion dollar industry.” The humanoid robot race will not be won in a research lab. It will be won on the manufacturing floor. Every other robotics company on earth can build a robot. Tesla can flood the planet with them. Because Tesla already knows how to stamp metal, build batteries, and deploy autonomous inference at global scale. The rest of the industry has prototypes. Tesla has the most sophisticated manufacturing operation on earth. When the world’s leading chipmaker calls your robot the next multi-trillion dollar industry, the debate is over. One supplies the chips. One builds everything the chips make possible. When that infrastructure scales across Grok, FSD, and Optimus simultaneously, the question stops being whether this changes everything. It becomes how fast.

Elon Musk just made the boldest product prediction in modern business: Optimus will be 10 times larger than the biggest product ever created. Not comparable to the largest products. Ten times bigger than whatever holds that record now. Musk: “I think it will be 10 times bigger than the next biggest product ever made.” The claim sounds delusional until you trace the logic. Mass-market humanoid robots need three things simultaneously: real intelligence, natural language understanding, and manufacturing at scale with mass-market pricing. That combination is almost impossible. Most companies have one element, maybe two. Nobody else has all three solved. Musk: “Tesla is the only company with all the required ingredients.” AI trained on physical world tasks, not just text. Vision systems proven across millions of vehicles. Autonomous decision-making deployed at scale. Manufacturing capability producing complex products in millions of units affordably. Cost discipline through vertical integration. Every required component already exists inside Tesla, developed for cars but transferable to humanoid form. Musk: “You should be able to ask them to do things naturally.” When robots understand natural commands and execute tasks autonomously, usefulness becomes universal. Not specialized equipment for factories. General-purpose capability adapting to any physical task you need done. Universal usefulness means market size stops being defined by applications. It becomes defined by human labor itself. Musk: “Nothing will even be close.” The prediction isn’t that Optimus succeeds. It’s that success creates commercial value exceeding everything in history by an order of magnitude. Useful robots at consumer prices don’t sell in millions. They sell in billions. Every home. Every business. Every job currently requiring human physical presence. The addressable market becomes all human labor. And human labor is the largest market in existence. Tesla possesses the complete capability stack. AI, manufacturing, cost optimization, real-world deployment experience. The exact combination required to build genuinely useful robots at prices enabling mass adoption. If the prediction holds, this isn’t a product category. It’s the product category that makes everything else look like rounding errors. The iPhone revolutionized communication and sold over 2 billion units. Optimus targets physical labor, a market orders of magnitude larger, with comparable adoption potential if the capability delivers. Ten times bigger than the next biggest product isn’t hyperbole if you’re solving human physical labor at consumer economics. It’s just math on what happens when scarcity in the largest market disappears.
