They were just two friends hanging out at the mall, joking around and enjoying an ordinary afternoon. One playful moment turned into another, and soon everyone was laughing.

A cyclist weaves through the trams, cars, and buses on Westminster Bridge, London. Filmed sometime in the mid to late 1930s, an ordinary afternoon with the threat of war still distant to most people.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Amendment Bill makes ASIO’s compulsory questioning powers broader and expands them with vague new grounds. I voted AGAINST the Bill. Extraordinary powers should never become ordinary. This afternoon the Australian Senate expanded the powers of the surveillance state.

He came to the city expecting nothing more than an ordinary afternoon. Then, in the middle of the crowd, a friendly conversation turned into laughter, a warm hug, and a moment neither of them expected. Sometimes, the most memorable connections begin with a simple hello.

It's the mid 2000s, and putting V8s in ordinary cars was a past time activity for many car makers. So one afternoon Volvo sends an engine design to Yamaha and asks them to bring it to life. The result was a 4.4L V8 put in the XC90. Safe to say it sounded really good. Video by TrackDaysCH on YT

Let's talk about the massive double standard happening in Uganda right now. On one hand, the government tells ordinary citizens to stop drinking in the afternoon, shut down bars early, and "get to work." But on the other hand, the very minister pushing this policy is out hosting massive daytime dance rallies with thousands of people in broad daylight. If an ordinary youth sits at a roadside establishment at 2 PM, they are called lazy and unproductive. But if that same youth stands in a dusty field at 2 PM dancing for a politician, it’s suddenly completely fine? Productivity isn't created by shutting down small businesses or banning leisure. It’s created by real jobs, fair wages, and economic opportunities. Ugandans deserve real solutions, not lectures from leaders who don't practice what they preach.

20-year-old Mohammad Zaid stepped out on an ordinary afternoon, promising his sister he would return with a cold drink. He never made it back. What began as a minor brush between his motorcycle and a car in Ghaziabad's Loni allegedly escalated into a horrific act of violence. According to police, Zaid was taken to an office by the accused, where he was brutally assaulted. He later succumbed to his injuries. The prime accused, Rahul Mavi, has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

Rest in peace Ann Widdecombe❤️ She showed up, said what she believed, and took the criticism that came with it. She was killed in her own home, in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. Joshua Kerry has been charged with her murder; Counter Terrorism Policing is now involved. She’s the third UK politician killed in a targeted attack in ten years. A society where public service carries this kind of risk is a society that should be asking itself hard questions—regardless of which side of the aisle the next name belongs to.

The Pope's emotion was evident. This afternoon he experienced one of the most touching moments of his visit to Spain. The "son of Saint Augustine," as Pope Leo XIII has described himself on more than one occasion, arrived at the church dedicated to the saint of Hippo in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona. In this area, one of the city's most challenging, the Church of Saint Augustine is known as the "cathedral of the poor": an old Baroque church from the 18th century, deeply connected to ordinary people, migrants, and those living on the margins of society.

A 19-year-old street photographer from China spent $29 and one afternoon shooting 50 strangers against a white wall. He never told them what it was for. By morning he had a 30-second clip of Shibuya crossing with 740,000 views on it. The trick was pretty simple. He shot the people himself and generated the street around them. 50 strangers off a wall in his city now cross Shibuya at rush hour. He didn't chase a random idea. He borrowed a structure that was already spreading: a place everybody knows, an ordinary minute in it, one thing in frame that should not be walking around. 50 references in one generation is a record nobody was chasing. Most clips run on 2 or 3. The $29 went to a Seedance subscription. He dropped it on 3 platforms the same night. Then he kept the crossing and swapped the crowd. New faces, new costumes, same 30 seconds. One afternoon of shooting. 50 files that keep going back to work.

RAM GOPAL VARMA! 😍 Spent a wonderful afternoon with the one and only #RamGopalVarma.🤓 We chatted for almost an hour and a half… and honestly, it felt like time just flew by. Conversations with him are never ordinary—they are layered, unpredictable and always fascinating.😎 He narrated some amazing scripts… and in his own unique style, said some very wonderful things about me. Coming from a filmmaker like him, it truly means a lot.😍😍 There is something very special about meeting people who breathe films and are an encyclopaedia on world cinema! Thank you for the time Ramu, the stories, and the madness. 😊 Always a pleasure!😍😎❤️ Ram Gopal Varma #Director #Rangeela #Company

Wan 3.0 – Ordinary Summer Afternoon There’s only one continuous shot that feels this real.prompt:Raw vertical phone video (UGC), continuous handheld take, no cuts, natural summer afternoon light, soft heat haze, slight natural sway. Characters None active. The absence of the grandmother is the point .... she was there the whole time and then simply isn’t. Setting Traditional Japanese house in midsummer. Wooden dining table with a cut watermelon, half a glass of iced tea, and an old photograph propped at the far end. Hallway lined with paper sliding doors. Slippers by the entrance. A fan turning slowly. Veranda with a wind chime under the eaves. Small sun-warmed courtyard. Quiet neighborhood path beyond the gate ..bicycles against the wall, distant kids’ voices, constant cicadas. Shot list0.0s–8.0s — Slow continuous drift, eye level Camera starts on the wooden dining table (cut watermelon, iced tea glass, old photograph at the far end) and drifts forward past it, down the hallway of paper sliding doors, past the slippers and the slowly turning fan. 8.0s–16.0s ....Continues outward, gentle handheld sway Moves onto the veranda where the wind chime sways under the eaves, through the small sunlit courtyard, and out the gate into the quiet neighborhood path. Bicycles lean against the wall. Kids’ voices somewhere nearby. Cicadas never stop. 16.0s–22.0s ... Camera settles, holds The camera goes still. The grandmother who was there the whole time simply isn’t anymore. What’s left: a jar of green plums, a cup of tea, a curtain still moving in the breeze, and the same old photograph from the beginning. Audio Live sync sound only ... soft cicada chorus, distant children’s voices, faint wind chime, quiet summer air. No music. No added effects. Style One continuous shot. No cuts, no spectacle. The Extraordinary Time Travel Incident of Håkan Nordkvist. On a seemingly ordinary afternoon, a Swedish man named Håkan Nordkvist experienced a reality-bending event that defied the laws of modern physics. What began as a routine household repair resulted in the world's most compelling physical evidence of human time travel. While highly controversial, theoretical physicists notes that the laws of physics do not entirely rule out such phenomena. Theories surrounding wormholes suggest that shortcuts can exist between two points in space and time, meaning a spontaneous localized temporal rift—even one hidden inside a kitchen cabinet—remains a theoretical possibility. Despite intense skepticism, Håkan Nordkvist has never wavered from his account, leaving the world with a haunting piece of video footage and a profound question about the true nature of time.

This is the afternoon call to prayer that you can hear from a mosque in the distance, while standing at Jerusalem's Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, the third holiest in Islam, and deeply significant to Christians because of its important role in the life of Jesus and the Bible. Not my first time in Israel but every time I'm struck by many things including how much religious freedom there is in Israel, far more than in some countries in the West that lecture or sanction the country. Some countries like Switzerland, for example, constitutionally bans the construction of new minarets. I've seen countless mosques, churches, women wearing hijabs, and the ordinary, public practice of Islam throughout Israel. The Jews, the Christians and the Muslims go about their daily lives. No one bats an eye.

Mass UFO Sighting in Broad Daylight Over London in June 2011 🛸👽 On a sunny afternoon in central London, pedestrians suddenly stopped in the streets, heads tilted up, phones out, filming something unusual in the sky. This raw footage shows multiple bright objects moving quickly across the clouds, darting, changing direction, and appearing in a loose formation. No visible wings, no contrails, just fast-moving lights that drew an instant crowd. People on both sides of the street froze and pointed. Some stepped out from shops and restaurants to look. The reactions are completely spontaneous, genuine surprise from ordinary Londoners who clearly had no idea what they were seeing. Dozens of witnesses captured it from different angles that day. The videos spread quickly because the scale and the daylight setting made it hard to dismiss. Still unexplained years later. Planes? Drones? Something else? What stands out most is how naturally everyone reacted in the moment.
