Originally, I decided not to animate these inserts as the story worked fine without them. But I love vehicle close-up mechanic shots and as I go through the film improving animation, I decided to animate them.

Big agree. I definitely want to incorporate a lot of that old school tactile technology in my future Manga/Anime. Similar to what you see in Evangelion and Many Gundam Series. Buttons and clickers galore.
