Sea otter Hardy celebrated his eighth rescueversary yesterday, June 25! Rescued in 2017 by VA Marine Mammal Rescue Society, he was named for Port Hardy, BC, where he was found. Tofino's ice cake was a huge hit with the otters (especially Luna) — so we decided to make something a little more sharable!

When a young seal was spotted napping on a New Jersey road on Feb. 24, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center sent help. “It seems this pup wasn’t successfully feeding herself, dropping back down to close to birth weight by the time she completed her 300+ mile marathon swim south from the pupping grounds in Canada and New England to New Jersey,” the Marine Mammal Stranding Center shared in an update. The organization is now providing care to the seal, including nutritional support.

When people care enough ❤️‍🩹. Willow was a tiny, bald puppy found crying alone at a market, scared and suffering from severe scabies. Rescuers at Mission Paws’ible took her in, gave her baths, massages, sun time for vitamin D, and vet care. Her condition was critical ~ low body temp, unable to stand ~ but she miraculously recovered, growing fur and becoming a playful firecracker. She found a loving forever home. An orphaned fawn, later named Ivy, was trapped in a river, struggling desperately to stay afloat. Her cries for help were heartbreaking. A group of friends heard her and immediately rushed to the rescue. They gently lifted the little fawn out of the water, checked her over, and comforted her. Later, they discovered another orphaned fawn, who was later named Indy. The two fawns were taken to Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary, where they were bottle-fed and lovingly cared for until they were strong enough to return to the wild. In the end, Ivy and Indy were released back into the forest together. ❤️🦌

We helped contribute to her rescue, and many others, from a NorthEast k*ll-pen, then helped with her subsequent surgery. 🐴 She was born w a contracted tendon, & forced to walk on it until she was 18 months old. (Like us walking on our ankle) 🐴 Her owners tired of her, and dumped this baby at a terrible slaughter facility. 🐴 Colby’s Crew Rescue did a fundraiser to buy her from the pen, then their vets did an intake. Two options were given. Euthanize her or send her to EMC Virginia Tech for surgery. 🐴 This was her walking into VT Hospital, and the end of this clip is her transformation. The rescue team's volunteers rushed him to safety, where he received IV fluids and intensive care. At first, Keanu could only lie in one place and eat without moving. But little by little, he regained his strength. He eventually stood up, began walking again, played with the other rescue dogs, and even found himself a "girlfriend." In the end, Keanu was adopted by a loving family. Today, he is a happy, gentle, and affectionate dog, enjoying the life he always deserved. ❤️🐶

Every movement made her nervous. All she cared about was keeping her little family safe. They carefully placed some food inside a humane trap, hoping she would walk in. But again, she chose to stay beside her babies instead. After almost an hour of patience and gentle effort, the team finally managed to rescue her. She returned with a boyfriend 💗✨ A little mallard duckling got lost and was left all alone. A woman found him and took him home to rescue him. With the help of her neighbor Gary, they cared for the weak little duckling and raised him until he grew up. When he had grown all his feathers and strong wings, he flew for the first time — and everyone cheered with joy. The duck gradually integrated with the wild duck flock, but he still regularly returned to his rescuers’ house as if it were his “second home.” Most touching of all, the female duck later brought her boyfriend back to “introduce” him to her human family. She even returned with her own babies and showed her ducklings to the people who had saved her. 🦆💗
