Garcia: So, to be clear, we have a president that is $2 billion richer just from this last year. We have a son whose wedding is being paid for by rich Russians and oligarchs that have connections to Putin. We have Jared Kushner, who got $2 billion for his investment firm from the Saudis while also doing diplomacy in the Middle East. We have the Kushners who are trying to buy private islands and selling all sorts of merchandise that’s being promoted, oftentimes through government resources. We also have, of course, this insane amount of stock trading that the president himself is doing to enrich himself and his family. And, of course, the sons sitting on boards of private companies that are then getting contracts from the federal government. The amount of corruption is unprecedented. And not only are they lining their pockets, they’re stealing the wealth of hardworking Americans, they’re stealing the hard-earned labor and wealth of working-class people, and then funneling that money to themselves and to the rich donors and large corporations and CEOs across this country. As they get richer, costs go up for the American people. And we know that Republicans in the House and in the Senate are complicit by not calling out this corruption.

AOC: I think we all know that everyone is opposed—well, people of rational sense in this country are opposed—to this senseless Iran war. We are seeing billions of dollars go to flattening other countries, and people can’t even fill a prescription here at home. This administration—Donald Trump and JD Vance, all of them—are responsible for some of the most destruction and the worst prioritization of the American people’s needs. And it’s time that we turn that ship around.

That is the most important tenet of our First Amendment rights: the right of the press not to be persecuted for reporting facts that may be unkind to people in power. I got to Congress after 22 years in local news, being that trusted voice for my neighbors. And now, when we see what’s happening to CBS News and somebody like Scott Pelley, who is the best in the business, to see this happen to him should really frighten all of us.

I think we are seeing the effect of those policies on Pennsylvania and the United States. Now is not the time, though, to be so consumed by the worry that we simply throw our hands up and say we can’t do anything about it, because you can do something about it, and you’ve got real power. And the way that these things work is that the longer that it goes on, the popularity goes down, not up over time. And that is a calamity for the Republican party. But that's not what's important right now. What's important is that it's a calamity for the United States of America, for our national security, for our alliances abroad, for putting our troops in danger with no clear strategy of what achieves a victory and how to get them out of there. And how does this end? And without any of those answers, everybody can see that the administration is flailing about. And the way we know they have no strategy because the strategy changes every single day with various justifications that don't make any sense when compared to one another. And that's where we are. And that's a pretty sad state of affairs. And yes, that's going to be terrible for Republicans in November, but that's really not the most worst thing about it. I think that what we really need right now is to focus on our plan for how we’re gonna help people’s lives.
