On this day in 1965, the U.S. launched its first and only space reactor into space. SNAP-10A was a sodium-potassium-cooled fast reactor developed as part of a @DeptofDefense R&D project to power a satellite.

Never forget that Soviet designers thought that this was a sensible way to have troops dismount from an armored vehicle. The BTR-60 with its convenient side hatches was the first in the series of the 8-wheeled APCs.

This is Kaja Kallas, the deranged and virulently Russophobic Prime Minister of Estonia & the new foreign minister of the EU. She wants to break up Russia. Her excuse for xenophobia: Her family “suffered” under bad, bad Soviet Union. Well, actually, her dad was the head of Sberbank, the large and prestigious state-owned Soviet bank. He was also a high-ranking editor in the Soviet media/propaganda department.

Today is 1417 days since Ukraine’s full-blown invasion began in February 2022. 1417 was the number of days that took Soviet Union to be invaded by Hitler, stop him and defeat. In his hypocrisy, Putin likes these “Great Patriotic War” comparisons. Yet they’re not to his favour. For two reasons. First, Russia is doing against Ukraine what Nazi Germany did against Soviet Union. And second, unlike the Soviet Union, Russia has 100% failed & disgraced itself in this barbaric, hideous, shameless Hitler-style land grab.

This is literally unseen footage of Iranian and Afghan immigrants attacking the Soviet embassy in Tehran after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. As my brother wrote in an academic paper (which he won't share), Imam Khomeini called the Soviet Union the "Little Satan" after they invaded Afghanistan. As he stated in his writings, "The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was enough for the Soviet Union to be categorized as an oppressor within Iranian Islamist discourse." Likewise, Israel and even sometimes Britain were called the "Little Satan" because of their evil actions. For the United States, however, Imam Khomeini famously said, "Every problem that exists is because of the United States." Fathi Shaqaqi also held similar (although slightly different) views on this matter. To really understand Israeli imperialism, one must understand American imperialism. As Shaqaqi said, "Israel and the US are one and the same thing, but Israel is the perfect manifestation (therefore an extension and thus the lesser version) of the Western [US] civilization [imperialism]." Also, check the comment section.

It was not until 1947 that the Soviet Union truly began rebuilding its cities after the war. Stalin then ordered a group of German POWs to clear the debris and start rebuilding Stalingrad. The city was in complete ruins, and it took the Germans a couple of years to clean it up.

1991 Referendum: 90.3% of Ukrainians voted for independence. Even in Crimea and Donbas, the majority said "Yes." It was a conscious choice. Despite centuries of occupation by the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, as well as the work of propaganda and the suppression of freedom
