Recorded just three days before Redding was killed in a plane crash, the song's famous whistling ending was originally intended as a placeholder but was kept in the final mix. To celebrate the song's enduring legacy, the Playing For Change project brought together musicians from around the world, including Jack Johnson and Otis Redding III, the singer's son, for a collaborative performance that introduced the timeless classic to a new generation.
