A few comments of "why did you miss out Wales". I didn't. rewatch the first page before the graph which explains (and explains why there's no Wales graph)

@itvMLshow It's ridiculous that many parents are more or less obliged to cover living costs for their adult children while at university. Every student should get the full maintenance loan irrespective of parental income.

@itvMLshow Middle earners get absolutely screwed in this country.

@itvMLshow I have three children at uni and household income is over £70k. However trying to find £15k a year to support them. This money is net so real terms this takes my household income gross to below £50k.This is a real middle class stealth tax.

@itvMLshow Basically as a parent you need to be prepared to cover accommodation costs. Expect around £7-£8k per year. Student rents need investigation as they have risen far quicker than any other rental property.

@itvMLshow My daughter insisted on working for a couple of years to pay to go to Uni. I couldn’t have afforded it at the time. Ironically, my son who didn’t go to Uni now probably has a better career path. Apprenticeship are worth their weight in gold. Earn and learn a skill

@itvMLshow At 18, they can vote, fight a war, go to prison, have a mortgage etc etc etc but... the Gov continue to treat them like children and still 'attach' them to their parents income. Its a crazy system

@itvMLshow The uni cost is actually much higher than this in the real world! Our son recently started uni so I know, 9,700 is definitely not enough! The house rent itself takes up at least 8-9K. Then the living cost is around 400-500 a month.

@itvMLshow My grand-daughter worked from leaving 6th form till University to pay her own rent/living cost plus again between years for rent/living. Now in her final year she has financed herself for the 3 years is already applying for jobs. As a family we are so proud of her independence
