Our asylum system is broken and being exploited. Human rights laws and foreign treaties like the ECHR are being used against us. This has to stop. That’s why I’ve tasked my party with creating the most detailed plan ever to fix these issues — guided by five clear tests👇

I have to be honest, speaking as someone who has worked on the frontline of the asylum system, the only solution I can see is a total offshoring of all claims. This would separate the pull factor of immigration to the UK (or other western countries) from the immediate need to find sanctuary. The lack of documentation, and the difficulties inherent in proving the veracity of any claim, mean that it’s virtually impossible to distinguish the genuine applicants from the vexatious ones, and to effect removal even where we could. And the sheer numbers involved mean we simply can’t carry on offering asylum in this way, or our infrastructure will collapse.

@Conservatives Rule 1 - Did the Tories break it so sit the fuck down and let the grownups fix it

@Conservatives Would you going to reverse the record breaking immigration your party was responsible for? Would you revoke all the bullshit visas you dished out like sweets to those that don't need to be here? Would you reassess all asylum claims, and remove those that have no reason to stay?

@Conservatives You broke it Brexit Plus 14yrs of incompetence

@Conservatives We already know the answers to all of your tests. The answer is no. Better use of party resources to say you’re exiting the ECHR and are working out how we’ll do so whilst mitigating the short term impacts. How is it your shadow Cabinet don’t already know these answers?

@Conservatives You broke our asylum system with incompetence and lies Kemi.

@Conservatives and this is going to work when 14 years of attempts failed, how exactly?

@Conservatives Your lot broke the asylum system. Open door policy.

@Conservatives Why didn't you fix when on Government,?

@Conservatives Why haven't you called out the islamification of the Labour Party and Parliament in general?
