It was a warm and emotional welcome when I arrived the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on my first day at work as Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our Permanent Secretary arranged a nice reception... Many thanks, Amb. Ahmed and all our officers and staff at our Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the heads and representatives of agencies superintended by the Ministry, who turned out to receive me. It's now a different office space, but the same familiar officers and staff. I am grateful to my dynamic crew who work so hard to make our tasks purposeful, and our interventions successful; My Director, all the directors, officers and staff as well as our security personnel and our hardworking team at OHMOS ( Office of the Honourable Minister of State) who have now transitioned to the OHMFA (Office of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs). May God bless you all . Yesterday, the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs MFA Somaliland witnessed a seamless transition as we formally handed over responsibilities to the newly nominated foreign minister, Abdirahman Dahir Adan. Serving Somaliland over the past few years first as Deputy Finance Minister and later as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs has been both a privilege and an honor. An Indian, a Pakistani, and a Bangladeshi all arguing over which is the most efficient route to import as many people into Britain as possible. How does this represent the British people in any way? I have such foreign grievance fatigue. Even if all the wars in the Middle East stopped tomorrow, they'd still call us racist unless we kept importing their fellow Muslims. Exhausting.

On this first day in office as Romanian foreign minister, I find it poignant to celebrate the UN International Day of Women in Diplomacy. I am looking forward to work with all my colleagues in the ministry at headquarters and abroad as well as with our international partners. I am thrilled many among them are women. Being a woman and a diplomat is not a special privilege, it is a reflection of the world. It is also an achievement for many women that bring their contribution and vision in a field that is both difficult and demanding. I am pleased to say that Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania 🇷🇴 is a champion in the field. At our embassies and consulates as well as at our headquarters hundreds of women diplomats are part of the team and this is also reflected at leadership level. Moved by their achievements and much looking forward to encourage women in diplomacy!
