The reorganization of a stake and the calling of a new stake presidency is a remarkable process in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We witnessed this last weekend as we reorganized a stake in the beautiful city of Singapore. This process stands as a witness that the Lord is conducting His work through the power of revelation. This is true for Church administration, but it is also true in our daily lives. Each of us can seek the Spirit and be guided in our decisions to do the Lord’s will.

Our Baba He would make the joke and join us in the laughter. That was our Baba Buhari. Behind the image of a firm and disciplined leader was a man of warmth, humility and quiet humour. He took us not just as aides, but as his children. He guided us with a fatherly hand. Baba didn’t need to raise his voice to command respect, his character did that on its own. We will miss his presence. We will miss his words , which are always measured, wise and rooted in truth. We will miss his leadership — calm in chaos, firm in storms and always anchored in principle. For those of us who walked closely with him, who learned at his feet, who saw the man beyond the title, his memory is a personal treasure. A treasure we will carry in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Goodbye, Baba!

Kenyans and other populations across East Africa are often told that imperialism is a closed chapter in the history books, and is no longer something that wields any meaningful influence in the lives of modern Africans, but is this really the case? Here are 3 current instances showing the living, breathing legacy of imperialism in Kenya. When justice for our people must be sought in foreign courts, when our land is treated as a disposable training ground for foreign armies, and when the future of our economies is dictated by distant institutions that demand our pain as payment for their loans, that is not the past - that is our present. These are not isolated injustices. They are the calculated results of a neocolonial system that has simply changed its form. It is time we recognize the pattern.
