Introducing…#TheKingCenter’s 2026 King Holiday Observance Theme and Signature Image Each year, we at The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center carefully select a theme for King Holiday Observance and the calendar year — a theme that reflects the enduring work of my parents, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Our 2026 King Holiday Observance theme is “Mission Possible 2: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way.” This year’s theme is a call to action—to both envision + create the #BelovedCommunity. We create the Beloved Community by building community in our families, neighborhoods, schools, social media, and other areas of life. Building community encompasses addressing real needs: cultivating humane and just systems, expanding access to housing and education, enacting compassionate legislation, and fostering spaces where everyone can thrive. To unite a nation, we must lead with courage and “other-centeredness,” practice love-centered communication, and work to transform unjust systems—together. And what does it mean to do it “the nonviolent way”? It means embracing and employing Kingian Nonviolence (Nonviolence 365) —living love and justice every day of the year.
