Great collaboration with Milon group @pmilonma at @UPCedu spearheaded by talented PhD student in the lab @HaarisAhsan with help from @MartinoMorici and @anisancas and special thanks to @CssbHamburg for amazing cryoEM data!!

At higher resolution, we reveal binding sites for edeine and GE81112 on the 30S that differ from previous studies…

While kasugmycin and edeine trap early pre-initiation complexes (PIC), we observe that GE81112 stabilizes a late PIC with closed head, accommodated initiator-tRNA but prior to IF3 release.

Collectively we show how three distinct compounds can bind within the E-site of the 30S to inhibit different stages of translation initiation

Tremendous efforts! Congrats to such an amazing team!

Thanks Victor!

Great work, @WilsonLab2 , and team!

Thanks Ahmad!!
