Our powerful visual language model Flamingo is changing the way 𝘺𝘰𝘶 can watch YouTube Shorts. 🦩 It automatically generates descriptions for hundreds of millions of videos in their metadata, making them more searchable. Here’s how AI is helping creators and viewers. ⬇️

Shorts can be created quickly but don’t often include helpful titles, meaning they can be harder to find. Flamingo analyses the videos, explains what's happening and categorises them. You won’t see it in action, but you'll discover better search results:

@DeepMind @YouTube I think you should first fix the search on YT. No matter what I search, I'm not getting any useful video related to my search, but only clickbait style videos, along with bunch of other nonsense such as "you might like this video" etc.

@DeepMind @YouTube ISTG I thought about this before! 😂

@DeepMind @YouTube Could we all try to implement a little icon or watermark whenever something is made with AI? Would help transparency.

@DeepMind @YouTube What problem does it solve? What is the cost function

@DeepMind @YouTube Unfortunately, @youtube is hyper-biased and censoring source of information, ideally for the woke - covidian - compliant mob of NPCs. Not very useful for some of the most interesting topics.

@DeepMind @YouTube There is a lot of nonsense on YouTube, and it is so hard to gain access to local content, because we have to force search it and may be missing out on a lot of content created in our location, especially educational content. Y'all need to stop doing this.

@DeepMind @YouTube At least create an option where we can have access to all local content in our country. That shouldn't be hard to do. It is causing smaller countries to struggle on y'all platforms unless catering to a global market, which their content might not necessarily attract.

@DeepMind @YouTube Using Ai to advance science is dope & so useful. Using Ai to assist humans in fulfilling their ignorance is less so IMO. Unless you build an Ai based on interest, making content of interest while installing truths somehow? Na to this one✌️. Humans be bias, no need to assist

@DeepMind @YouTube This is amazing. Keep pushing AI forward!
