In the beginning that will be very expensive to run, then at some point a lot of the code we have in our apps will be built by AI engineers instead of people engineers. This is my first long conversation in a very, very long time. The idea was to talk about all the things that make Zerodha what it is today, because a lot of people don’t really know how differently Zerodha has been built compared to most other companies. We’ve never raised external capital. We don’t advertise. We don’t have a sales team with sales targets. We don’t do much marketing. We don’t push people to trade or invest. And we have a relatively small team that has remained at roughly 1,000 people since around 2018–19, even though the business has grown five or six times since then. In this conversation, I spoke about all these things and more: how we think about growth, risk, competition, and the future of Zerodha. This is also the beginning of a new series where we want to shine a spotlight on the people who have made Zerodha what it is today. After a series of meetings with McCormick Property Development (a SA company), which included a request made to them to redesign the Egodini vendors bays, we are pleased to report that substantial progress has been made and the project is now underway again. The redesign was to ensure that the Egodini vendors market will be fully roofed so as to provide protection to vendors, their customers and their wares. Egodini is a critical component of The City of Bulawayo ‘s need to decongest areas in the center of our City (including 5th Avenue) and the project has been bogged down. I am grateful for the new energy which has been injected by McCormick and now hopeful that this long outstanding project may now be completed.

"It's about a man named Elon Musk, and he's one of the greatest business leaders and innovators the world has ever produced. He stepped forward to put his very great talents into the service of our nation, and we appreciate it. And just want to say that Elon has worked tirelessly, helping lead the most sweeping and consequential government reform program in generations. And you know the kinds of things that he's he's found, and his people have found, he's brought a group of very smart people in, and they found things that are pretty unbelievable. I have to say that the numbers that we're talking about are substantial, but they're going to be very much more substantial with time, because many of the things that we're working on right now, we're going to have to remember Elon as we find them, but the numbers could double and triple, because many, many things, we don't want to go out with them until we're sure. With the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon delivered a colossal change in the old ways of doing business in Washington. Doge has installed geniuses with an engineering mindset and unbelievably talented people and computers. Some more reasons why HS2 is cripplingly expensive: It's not just a railway, it's also a 140 mile long nature reserve. 7 million trees and shrubs. Net biodiversity gains. Rare fauna planting. Chalk hill reshaping. Wetland creation. Cycle paths and bridleways. Reptile habitats. Public viewing points. River realignment with new bends, pools, and riffles. "Alongside the construction of Britain's new high speed railway, HS2 is delivering one of the largest environmental programmes ever undertaken in the UK". You'd think that a new railway would be environmentally beneficial enough. But no. Because this is a government project it can't just be a railway. It has to be a nature reserve too, and a jobs creator, plus a view protector, forest creator, and the most expensive bat protection project in the world. Thanks to all these expensive boondoggles, the railway itself has been cut and cut and cut, and no longer goes to Leeds or Manchester - it's been slashed from 330 miles to 140. It would obviously be better for the environment to have forgone the nature slop and just built the sodding railway in full, on time, and within budget.
