A brilliant project — but one that really should have happened years ago, when local government budgets were stronger. The same opportunity should extend to all schools and council-owned buildings, many of which still run inefficiently. That said, with Kelvin Hall being a listed building, can you confirm if this now opens the door for other listed properties across Glasgow to install rooftop solar? Councillor, would you actively support and encourage this as part of Glasgow’s route to Net Zero? Headline savings are great — but only if paired with proper usage monitoring, otherwise energy (and money) is still wasted through heating left on, draughts, and inefficiencies.

@KelvinHall16 That’s good to hear. We have solar panels on our Glasgow flats and get no financial benefit as factor (Hacking & Paterson) is refusing to arrange a feed in tariff - could planning make that a requirement? We have generated £4000 of electricity that’s gone to the grid for free.

@KelvinHall16 If you are going to boast about probably Scotland’s biggest roof top array it is best to get your facts straight. NATS in Prestwick has a 1400 panel roof top array generating over 600,000 kWh a year. A piss poor boast from SNP run council
