What is the definition of a real coach? How does one become one? Because I think that is one of the root problems, among many.

The curriculum of the game is being missed by many players during development. Changing teams, changing coaches, prioritizing winning at all ages has had a negative effect on learning. FIBA rules are also more conducive to learning the WHY in overall decision making.

You are absolutely spot on. Athletes are much better, but only play with their athleticism. I see a lot of nonsense being taught that will never be used in a game.

There are answers and solutions!

Like many issues, there is nuance. Nothing is as “black and white” as it seems. On this specific issue, the US constitutes approximately 4% of the world population. As the game becomes more international, it logically follows that non US players will increasingly be top players.

There are parts of the system that are totally broke and others that aren’t so bad. Those parts are few and far between but they are there.
