Outrageous catch from Michael Neser 😱 Allow Glenn Maxwell to explain why it's a legit catch #BBL12

Cricket has so many ridiculous laws and they should be changed and this is one of them

Legit, but ridiculous! Despite being airborne at all the right times, Neser still takes the ball across the line and outside the field of play and then brings it back in. Crazy rule!

The Law should require each segment of the "catch" require contact with the field of play (before & after the catch).

Need to change rules. Once feet go over rope then it's six. @bradhodge007 you can't start over the rope when initially fielding what's the difference? @Gmaxi_32

Its ridiculous the boundary lines are so far in. Would have been a easy catch if the boundary lines where pushed back. Argument about if the catch being legit or not shouldnt be for starters

Simple way to solve this. Go back to full sized boundaries

That needs to change , that’s obviously ridiculous

one of the worst rules of @ICC the jump should happen from the playing area. thats it. keep it simple. not when the ball was in contact last. @Gmaxi_32

This is not out… Can’t allowing such catches..

Makes up for the heat getting robbed with the ball change last game

Read the rules. This is 6. Neser was deemed grounded outside boundary and then he touched the ball. Rule 19.5.1 does not say grounded if touching ground and ball at same time. He needed to reenter field of play before touching ball. Rules could be clearer but are accurate.

Yep good explanation by Maxi. It's a rule that definitely needs changing as it was designed for before T20 era.

Blame the boundary ropes not the rules. Imagine how many extra runs the teams of 80s/90s would have if they never had to hit or clear the fence. I don’t see Neser doing this jumping the fence and then jumping back over..

I’m old fashioned, but the ball crossed the line. I think it should be a six, but I’m old school.

Good on him for being aware of the stupid and incorrect rule, can't fault him. It seems that cricket wants to compete with other sports that have bad rules and bad officiating, such as Stoinis not being timed out.

he knew the rule and played it well. 3rd umpire also knew the rule and gave it out. Move on, nothing to see here #HOWZAT

@JomboyMedia this is one for you guys surely

Outrageous it was considered a catch.

Making mockery of cricket

How’s about the catch was completed before the rest of the circus act. If the fence is there instead of the rope it doesn’t happen as it stops him

It was a six and not out

Doesn't matter if its legitimate it's a broken rule that has ruined a game of cricket tonight

Stupid rule, totally crazy loophole, he could literally hop on down to the pub and hop back with a schooner and catch it inbounds and it’s OUT…wtf how stupid

All such catches are invalid for a simple reason that catcher is out of play area while handling the ball , player has to come inside the boundary to take a catch

I think it’s time for @ICC to introduce goal line technology like football to stop this nonsense. Absolutely not fair with batter

juggling with the ball and toying with rules. It should have been a six but was given out . The rule change is imminent i hope so.. Maxi' s Explanation doesn't sit well alongside common sense.

I don’t mind the current interpretation of the rule. If you want to change it, the @NFL has an easy protocol - two feet need to touch the floor in the field of play while in full control of the ball. If so, it doesn’t matter if you subsequently run or fall over boundary.

you shouldn't be allowed to run outside the boundary line... its a 6. Catch wasn't taken within the boundary.

Nobody better than Maxi to explain spectacular fielding efforts

If you have to spend time explaining it, then it's a stupid rule...

Not 100% convinced he wasn’t touching ground when he threw it back in !

This was a six Law 19.4(ii) neither the ball, nor any fielder in contact with the ball, touches or is grounded beyond, the boundary at any time during the act of making the catch or of fielding the ball.
