THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS: In 2023, the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that 135,638 individuals, including 3,693 children and 8,478 women, are detained in the prisons of the Assad regime. These detainees endure unimaginable horrors, with reports of electrocution, severe beatings, forced stress positions for days, rape, and deprivation of basic needs such as food and water. Many of them are held for no reason, often survivors recount of detained just for speaking out or being seen as against Bashar Al Assad's Regime
