Out Run turns 40 this year. In 1986, this game introduced a ton of cool new features. It was the first arcade cabinet with a steering wheel featuring force feedback to mimic road surfaces, plus pedals and a gear shift. It was also the first to let players choose from three synth-pop tracks (Magical Sound Shower, Passing Breeze, and Splash Wave) via an in-game radio to personalize the vibe. It simulated real Ferrari Testarossa traits (horsepower, torque, and gears) and allowed skillful drifting - or bad drifting, in my case. The road would fork (left/right) at certain intervals, also a first for its type, giving the player choice and making it more interactive. Out Run ultimately became Sega's top-selling arcade game in 1987.

Castlevania, known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula, turns 40 this year. It was released in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System (or NES outside of Japan). I found this game to be both highly addictive, super tough and - at times - frustrating. What can't be denied is its cult status and longevity, with the latest title of the series (Haunted Castle Revisited) being published in 2024. A brilliant platformer, if you had the skills (which I didn't). Note: Video edit is the 1987 NES version, which came after the original 1986 Famicon debut.

Hunk was adopted in June 2024. He and favorite mare, Ariel, had been separated for over 1.5 years (roughly 18+ months) after being removed from the wild. Ariel is still completely untouched/wild (not yet gentled or halter-trained), so she stays in a secure separate pen for safety reasons. Hunk is more settled and allowed to roam the yard freely, where he chooses to visit Ariel for “dinner dates” through the fence. Love finds a way! PART 2 coming

Cardinals Player Spotlight - Ray Lankford Lankford was born on June 5, 1967, in Los Angeles, California. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball, primarily for the St. Louis Cardinals, from 1990 to 2004, with a brief stint with the San Diego Padres in 2001-2002. After a taste of the big leagues in 1990, Lankford would finished 3rd in voting for the National League's Rookie of the Year in 1991. Lankford was known for his combination of power and speed, hitting 238 home runs and stealing 258 bases over his career. He spent most of his career with the Cardinals, where he became a fan favorite. His best season was arguably 1998, when he hit .293 with 31 home runs and 105 RBIs. Lankford hit 123 home runs at Busch Stadium II, the most of any player in the stadium's history. He finished his career in his home ballpark with a pinch hit home run in his final major league at bat on October 3, 2004. He is the only player to have 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases as a Cardinal. After retiring, he has occasionally been involved in coaching and mentoring young players. This man walks out to the parking lot at a bar and people are talking about how some girl just hit someone’s car. He calmly walks over and it turns out it was his car that was hit. He tells her how to pull out without causing much more damage. After she gets out, ghee boyfriend tries to smooth things over and minimize things by saying it’s well you can go through insurance or we can give you $150 for the paint job. Where can anyone get a professional paint job for only $150. There is a chance it will buff out though but if someone hit your car wouldn’t you just call the police to make a report and go through their insurance or would you take their $150 and go through insurance anyways to teach them a lesson?

Cincinnati player-manager Pete Rose inserts himself as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the 9th, singles, and has Eric Davis pinch-run for him. Davis steals second and then third. New York's Ray Knight and Davis square off and come to blows — setting off one of the nastier bench-clearing brawls you'll ever see. In extra innings, due to player ejections and the length of the game, Mets manager Davey Johnson is forced to jockey numerous players at different positions — including playing catcher Gary Carter at third base and having relief pitchers Roger McDowell and Jesse Orosco platoon situationally between the mound and playing in the outfield. In the bottom of the 12th, New York's perennial gold-glove first baseman Keith Hernandez turns an absolutely scintillating (and rare) 3-5-4 double play. The Mets would go on to win 6-3.$

LeBron James last night fell to the ground writhing in pain, replay showed that he hit nothing of significance despite him grabbing both arms, and screaming as if he’d been hit by a car. He then exits the game. Lakers go on a run, as they show a trainer working on his left arm. They cut the lead to 1, and LeBron suddenly gets worried that the Lakers look better without him, so he stops faking to reenter the game with a couple minutes left. Lakers momentum is instantly zapped, and the team doesn’t score another basket until there’s 7 seconds left in the game. After the game he said that he “hit his funny bone”. Police say he began threatening employees and customers, was trespassed from the store, and then told an officer, "I will $ho0t you, bro," before resisting arrest in the parking lot. He was initially charged with Disorderly Conduct and Threatening a Law Enforcement Officer. Then, after bonding out of jail, investigators say he returned to the same Walmart he had just been banned from... and was arrested all over again, this time on a Trespassing charge. Zelda is now 40 years old. The older this game gets, the more I am impressed with what they were able to conjure up back then, considering software and hardware limitations. Also, if you played this back in the day, you are probably greying a little bit around the temples these days. I know I am! A timeless masterpiece: The Legend of Zelda (1986) is Nintendo's groundbreaking action-adventure game for the NES. Hero Link explores Hyrule's vast overworld, battling eenmies and exploring nine dungeons to gather eight Triforce of Wisdom shards, rescuing Princess Zelda from evil. I didn't have a NES back then, my friend did - needless to say I spent more time at his place than he at mine.

We learned that the driver was trying to overtake another vehicle, possibly a truck or a bus. While attempting to overtake from the left, the vehicle entered the lane in which Sarthak was riding and hit him at high speed near the Rajokri flyover. After knocking him down, they left him lying on the road and fled the spot. I cannot tell you exactly what happened after that because I was not there. The accident took place on the morning of June 25, but I received a call from the police only at around 10 pm on June 26. They told me, 'We have caught the accused. Please come and identify them.' Even then, they said it would take more time because the accused had been sent to Safdarjung Hospital for blood and alcohol tests. Just imagine the timeline, from the morning of June 25 until the night of June 26. What happened during all those hours? Why did it take so long? The police already had the vehicle's registration number because someone who witnessed the accident had photographed the SUV and shared the registration number with them. Despite having that information, it took them nearly 40 to 50 hours to identify and apprehend the accused. As far as we know, blood samples were collected, but after that, the accused were released. Today, both of those young men are roaming free, while our son is no longer with us."
