You can also use the Gradient layer type in Toolbag to make planar knurling like for this pistol grip panel 😎 Adding a sync point above the layer lets you use the effect with smart mats and generators as well.

If you're using the Inverted Hull method to add an outline to your character, you can assign a vertex group in the Solidify modifier and, with a little weight painting, you can vary the outline depth around your mesh to help it stand out more.

How is this not more commonly known Adobe Substance 3D? If you want your imported baked maps to load automatically to your texture sets then you have to set your naming conventions correctly. As Roderick Weise points out here (go follow him!) & in my example of it working, the suffix names look like this: ScalpingKnife_ambient_occlusion ScalpingKnife_curvature ScalpingKnife_id ScalpingKnife_normal_base ScalpingKnife_thickness ScalpingKnife_world_space_normals If you bake in Marmoset toolbag then i suggest altering the suffixes in your baker object to match so there's no need to do any renaming afterwards. Things to note: - Make sure you have a material(s) applied to your mesh with the same name as the basename of your textures. - If you use .OBJ then make sure you export with 'materials' included in your export options. - FBX files remain the same.

This timelapse had a similiar process with painting in colour shifts to start with, though my main focus here was to preserve the lighting mood, so, I didn't go in to detail and mess with colours too much.

I’ve had quite a few people ask about how I use the black and white underpainting in my process. Here’s a short timelapse video showing part of the color pas over ‘Chrysalis’. I don’t always use an underpainting, but when I do, I use it to work out the overall values and lighting…especially useful when large areas of the painting are invented…such as the entire background and landscape of this painting. Then I make the color pass in pass in opaque oil and use the underpainting as a value guide…free to focus entirely on the color.

In 2023, I bought Yuu’s premade chibi and fell in love with it! Years later and dozens of premade models later I still haven’t found a better model with better tracking. So if you are looking for an amazing model to start your streaming career with I highly recommend Yuu’s!
