Can I ask what brand of gouache you use? I gave it a try years ago but it was nowhere near as opaque as the demos I see. However it was a cheap brand, so I suspect this could be a paint where quality is very relevant!

Oh yeah, cheap gouache is not worth the savings. Windsor and newtons designer gouache is my go to.

This evening, a Frida Kahlo painting achieved the record for the highest price for a painting by a woman at auction, not just at Sotheby’s but in history. $54.7 million (hammer plus buyer’s premium). I don’t believe this is one of the Kahlos in Madonna’s collection, as the collector who consigned it bought it in 1980.
