Back when I used to sculpt with polymer clay, I always felt that my painting skills were much worse than my sculpting skills, and it ruined the final result. One thing that I really wanted to focus on when working on the environment was improving my texturing skills! So, even though this AC wasn't a prominent prop in the environment, I spent 2 days working on it because I enjoyed the process of painting all the rust details manually!

Today the Gauteng Government awarded completion certificates to more than 2 500 participants of the Unemployed Youth Skills Development Initiative (UYSDI) in Soweto. These learners participated in various skills training programmes across 71 Technical High Schools in Gauteng, including plumbing, electrical work, welding, painting and other artisan-related trades under the UYSDI programme. The UYSDI aims to equip unemployed youth with practical, job-ready skills aligned to high-demand and labour-intensive sectors of the economy. The initiative targets young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), with beneficiaries recruited through the GCRA / Nasi’iSpani database. #GrowingGautengTogether 🇿🇦

#WATCH | Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir | Fabric artist and sister of Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who laid down his life in the line of duty during an encounter in Kathua, Anamika Sharma says, “…I am a textile artist, a registered artisan recognized by both the Government of India and the State Handicrafts Department, specialising in fabric painting. My brand is called Deepak Creations, and you can find it on Instagram. My work focuses primarily on the 'Vocal for Local' initiative; for instance, one of my key products is the tote bag, specifically, cotton canvas bags… As for my other products, I offer sarees, suits, and clothing for both men and women; I also provide customization services for any of these items. Regarding government support, I am associated with various sectors… I am also affiliated with the State Handicrafts Department. Whenever exhibitions are held in the state, they provide us with a platform. Through them, I have applied for the 'Karkhandar' scheme here in Jammu & Kashmir; it will allow me to empower ten other women by sharing my knowledge and teaching them the skills of my craft, so we can grow together… Regarding my education, I completed my Honors degree in Zoology from Delhi University. Afterward, I spent four years preparing for the UPSC and JKPSC exams. I am the sister of Martyr Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who was martyred in the Kathua encounter on 3 April 2024. The day he was martyred happened to be the day of my Mains exam, so I couldn't appear for it. Subsequently, I faced some mental health issues and had to seek medical advice. I couldn't return to my studies after that, so I essentially took up painting as a form of mental therapy, and somehow, that evolved into a business idea. It has been two years since I started, and I have been running this venture online via Instagram… My style involves freehand painting, making every piece unique; the item you wear is one-of-a-kind… That is what I am doing. Furthermore, I plan to incorporate other elements to help keep traditional arts and crafts alive…”
