In 1966, following President Ayub Khan’s visit to the UK, Pakistan stepped into computing history as PIA installed the country’s first commercial mainframe, an IBM 1401 in Karachi to automate flights, payroll, and logistics. A major tech milestone.

Like him or loath him, Ayub Khan definitely had a great personality & stature during 1960s especially. PAK did make great strides forward during 1960s under his leadership. Under him in 1960s, PAK fought back India’s failed aggression in 1965 & also defeating Afghanistan too.

Pakistan in the 50s–70s was far ahead of much of South Asia economically. Had that growth continued, it could’ve been a top 5–6 economy today. I believe the military’s growing influence changed that trajectory.

Both military & civil leadership were equally responsible for it.

We were on the right track, but somehow we veered off course. We do not know how it happened, but we are still struggling to find our way back.

I am seeing it another perspective. Ayub was treat so respectfully and with honour and till today the western countries treat every Pakistani dictator with such an honour and dignity

See we might not have high definition camera but still the old footages seem so good and cinematic

Queen was way ahead of their time in this regard. The original footage was B&W, but they manually restored & colorized it before the rise of AI a process that was extremely time consuming & expensive. Similar to what India did when restored & re-released the movie Mughal-e-Azam.
