Pakistan’s Defence Minister has openly threatened to strike Kolkata. And what has Narendra Modi said? Nothing. Yesterday in Cooch Behar, the Prime Minister addressed a rally but didn’t utter a single word about this grave threat to a major Indian city and its people. Is this how little the lives of Bengalis mean to him and his Home Minister? Do we not count as a state of the Indian Union? Do the lives of our people not matter at all? Or is Bengal only useful for milking votes during elections and then left completely abandoned when it faces danger of external aggression?

My appearance on the British Brainwashing Corporation's Question Time in 2018, where I sat next to future UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and challenged him on this belief that we should uncritically believe what Downing Street says regarding foreign policy. Sir Keir Starmer, now somehow even more deeply despised by the British public for his appointment of Peter Mandelson as Ambassador to the United States, despite knowing of his close relationship with pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. He has turned the UK into even more of a vassal state of Washington, loyally followed the same neoliberal economics which continue pushing the UK into terminal economic decline, armed and backed the Gaza genocide, and now faces perhaps the end of his leadership. If this is indeed the end, or the beginning of the end of the charisma vacuum, then it has been a tenure of nothing but failures, hypocrisy, destruction abroad, and abhorrent lies to the public...but then again, none of this is unusual for a British Prime Minister in the 21st Century.
