“I'm not a huge hater of the institutions. I wasn't a huge hater of altcoins. These institutional products are just kind of altcoins. People can go make their money. Go do your thing. But it's not Bitcoin. An ETF is not Bitcoin. With these centralized projects, you're not getting the core values of Bitcoin, the control, the censorship resistance, the privacy. You're putting it in a centralized wrapper, and if you put Bitcoin in a centralized wrapper, you lose everything that's good about it. It's not Bitcoin. It's just an affinity marketing thing. It's “Hey, you like Bitcoin, go buy my other project." Just like, "Hey you like bitcoin? Go buy my altcoin." It's not the same thing, and I think in many ways it's a step backwards. I don't hate these people, but they certainly shouldn't be celebrated. It's not forwarding our industry if we do treasury strategies, if we do ETFs, we cheer for BlackRock and Cantor. That's a step backwards. It's not something to be cheerful for. It's not a victory, in my opinion. A victory is having more people have direct ownership of real Bitcoin. We now have millions of people who've been onboarded into this fake paper thing that's a claim on a claim on a claim of something that has Bitcoin in the words, but it's not actually Bitcoin. They are never actually holding a wallet like many of us did back in 2012 where somebody sent us that first dollar and you say, "Wow, this is cool. I didn't need to give my ID and I'm able to control and hold this sound money for the first time." You now have a whole generation of millions of people that don't have that. They have some junk fiat product sitting like sludge on their centralized brokerage account at the centralized clearing firm, traded on a centralized exchange, with a centralized transfer agent, and a centralized custodian, and they have to trust six levels of people on a claim for something that has the word ‘Bitcoin’ in it. It's not a victory. It's not a step forward. I don't think it's something that should be celebrated at all.”

I was watching a Parker Lewis talk from seven months ago, and it was genuinely excellent. I was surprised to discover that I agree with him philosophically almost 100%, especially after he has voiced some disagreements with me on here. His vision of a Bitcoin standard was clear. Bitcoin becomes the money, pricing mechanism, payment rail, and unit of account. Companies earn Bitcoin cash flows, assets are valued in Bitcoin, and people use their savings to invest and assume risk. His exact words were: “People will have savings. People will still invest. People will still take risks… We’re not all just sitting here staring at our digital wealth.” Correct. That is precisely how I think about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the apex money and ultimate denominator. I hold it in self-custody. I also invest some of my capital in equities when I believe the expected Bitcoin-denominated return compensates me for the additional risk.

This is the former President of PayPal talking about using #Bitcoin to make the $7.5 Trillion DAILY Foreign Exchange Market a much more efficient & profitable place. He is talking about building what Strike is building and compared the current monetary rails to a fax machine. I also completely agree with him that #Bitcoin will not be the currency people use to buy goods and services, however, it is a great settlement layer where you can have USD effectively on #Bitcoin rails and do immediate settlements. This is the best explanation of a corporate application of #Bitcoin being used as an invisible service layer that I've heard. If you think the corporates "don't get it" and only Twitter Anon's can "get it" - you're a moron. These people are smart and can catch up quickly with manpower. To put it into perspective, if 25% of the Daily Foreign Exchange market was on #Bitcoin rails it means $1.875 Trillion of daily consistent demand for #Bitcoin. That would equate to a $225 Trillion #Bitcoin Market Cap - assuming BofA's Bull Market Multiple is right. This means - just 25% of this market alone coming onto the #Bitcoin Rails would add $10.5m onto the price of #Bitcoin. Thanks for finding the video!

“There was never any talk of the risk.” Peter Schiff is just lying at this point. The risk of $STRC was always obvious: it is preferred equity issued by a Bitcoin Treasury Company. Saylor said it clearly: if Bitcoin goes down long term or forever, that is the risk. And what are we seeing now? Bitcoin under pressure. Liquidity rotated into AI and IPOs. Maximum fear. STRC down. That is not some hidden scandal. That is risk premium repricing. Strategy does not magically control STRC’s market price. They can adjust the dividend rate, but the market prices the risk of Bitcoin and Strategy’s ability to keep paying dividends. And when Bitcoin starts going up again, what do you think happens? It is not private in reality. And the question is, should it have been from the start? And at first I thought, yes, it should have been more private. And that was a mistake in its design. However, I think if Bitcoin had been anonymous truly from the start, like a Zcash or a Monero, it would have had such antagonism from the state. I don’t know that the state could have snuffed it out, but they would have tried much harder. And I think it’s actually good, from the Trojan horse metaphor perspective, that it was traceable enough that the traditional institutions could tolerate it. So, does it matter that Bitcoin seems to be moving away from its cypherpunk roots? Bitcoin ETFs and Bitcoin Treasuries have taken BTC mainstream. So I asked Saifedean Ammous this very question. His answer might surprise you... 👀👇 "If you have very strong feelings about how people should and shouldn't use Bitcoin, you're in for a rough time." "To be honest, a lot of people project too much onto Bitcoin. Ultimately, it's just a bunch of software and anybody can use it in any way they want. Initially, it's a small subset of people that use it and then they start projecting their values onto it. And then over time, they expect it to continue to abide by that," Ammous said. "If it's a successful technology, it's going to be used by everybody. It's going to be used by small businesses, large businesses, governments, individuals. It's money. Everybody uses money. There are 8.5 billion people on Earth, they all use money and they're all going to continue to use money. And Bitcoin is just the best money." Ultimately, the protocol itself is immune to the financial instruments that TradFi has concocted. If people want to lend against their BTC or create complex financial products, that does not actually impact the underlying network. "The way that the protocol works is that it's completely blind to what you're doing with your coins on the Bitcoin blockchain there is no paper Bitcoin there's no such thing as paper Bitcoin there's only 21 million Bitcoin and every node makes sure of that every 10 minutes and then if somebody who has some of these Bitcoin on their private key decides to sell obligations or financial liabilities referring to that Bitcoin under any condition, that's their choice. It's outside of Bitcoin and it's outside of the realm of other Bitcoin users being able to say this is right or wrong and this should happen or shouldn't happen. People are going to do whatever they want with the Bitcoin, including selling access to it or exposure to it in all kinds of different ways. Even though we say we created a “company,” we just used that word because it’s easier for people to understand. But in the end, it’s not really about the company, it’s about the people. Like, who you work with. And what kind of experiences you share with them, that’s what really matters the most. So with these people, whether we go, volunteering or travel somewhere, we always move together as one group. Because if not and later on, when I write and release a song, if we hadn’t shared those experiences, I’d have to explain everything. Like, “I went somewhere and had this kind of experience…” But since we’ve all lived it together, I can just say, “Hey, I wrote this kind of song this time,” and they’ll be like, “Oh, yeah, I get it. I know exactly what that is.” It just makes everything so much faster, right?”

One of the most encouraging conversations I had in Red Deer was with the Alberta snowbirds from Yuma. These are Albertans who spend part of the winter in places like Arizona, and instead of checking out politically while they were away, they helped turn Yuma into one of the most unexpectedly inspiring little hubs of the independence movement. In this conversation, they explain that their Yuma team held six pop-up signing events, and at one of the bigger turnouts they saw roughly 350 people show up, with only a handful of canvassers trying to keep up. That is not a gimmick. That is real support showing up in the middle of another country because Albertans abroad still care deeply about what happens back home. That is why this matters. A lot of people saw the Yuma story as a funny social media moment. But it is actually much more than that. It is a sign that this movement has reached a level of mainstream visibility where ordinary Albertans are no longer waiting for permission, no longer hiding their support, and no longer treating independence as some fringe theory that only gets discussed in private. They are carrying it with them wherever they go. Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii, even farther afield. That tells you something important: this idea is alive in people now. It travels with them. It is becoming part of their identity. The Yuma team also makes another point that matters. They were not calling themselves heroes. They said they were just tough Albertans who were not going to put up with any more nonsense. That is exactly the spirit behind a lot of this movement. Not celebrity. Not performance. Not paid activism. Just regular Albertans deciding to do something real because they believe this can actually happen. And in the conversation I say exactly that: the reason so many people are out there, whether in Arizona heat or Alberta wind, is because we genuinely believe this can happen. One of the most encouraging conversations I had in Red Deer was with the Alberta snowbirds from Yuma. These are Albertans who spend part of the winter in places like Arizona, and instead of checking out politically while they were away, they helped turn Yuma into one of the most unexpectedly inspiring little hubs of the independence movement. In this conversation, they explain that their Yuma team held six pop-up signing events, and at one of the bigger turnouts they saw roughly 350 people show up, with only a handful of canvassers trying to keep up. That is not a gimmick. That is real support showing up in the middle of another country because Albertans abroad still care deeply about what happens back home. That is why this matters. A lot of people saw the Yuma story as a funny social media moment. But it is actually much more than that. It is a sign that this movement has reached a level of mainstream visibility where ordinary Albertans are no longer waiting for permission, no longer hiding their support, and no longer treating independence as some fringe theory that only gets discussed in private. They are carrying it with them wherever they go. Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii, even farther afield. That tells you something important: this idea is alive in people now. It travels with them. It is becoming part of their identity. The Yuma team also makes another point that matters. They were not calling themselves heroes. They said they were just tough Albertans who were not going to put up with any more nonsense. That is exactly the spirit behind a lot of this movement. Not celebrity. Not performance. Now in 2025, it’s: What’s our timing strategy? What percentage makes sense? Which vendors do we engage with for custody and beyond? Lesson 2: The conversation isn’t just financial—it’s philosophical. This isn’t just about a hedge—it’s about preparing for a world that feels less anchored. Bitcoin represents something beyond volatility charts. It’s about opt-out optionality. It’s about control. There were so many moments when I hit him with a joke or contradicted something—and no problem. I never felt I had to walk on eggshells around him. And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump. That’s just how it went down. A crazy person doesn’t live in the White House. A person who plays a crazy person on TV a lot lives there—which, I know, is fucked up. It’s just… not as fucked up as I thought it was. Trump was gracious and measured. Why he isn’t that in other settings, I don’t know—and I can’t answer.”
