A winter storm brought snow to the Florida Panhandle this weekend. Light snow coated palm trees in the northern part of the sunshine state for the second year in a row.

When you go to down town, it’s like palm Sunday. KCCA just planted palm trees everywhere and it’s now like a garden😁

🚨 Indian cities boil in record heat, cities desperately need shade trees and our Babus are busy planting decorative Palm Trees. No Shade. No Cooling. No Ecological Value. Which Minister’s or Babu’s kid is benefiting from this?

This is what a lot of the roads in Islamabad still look like *knock on wood*. Extremely easy to replicate this across the city (and other cities!) with indigenous trees, instead of those ridiculous, useless palm trees.

This is Mutha River in Pune. Do we really need to decorate it with RCC walls, concrete pathways, SS railings, lighting posts and palm trees?

Know that I say this with total love: what’s wrong with planting palm trees and banana trees in NC is that you’re destroying the natural beauty of this state. Palm trees are only native to a very small portion of Brunswick county. Banana trees? They’re not native at all. When I was growing up finding a palm tree? That was like magic. It was an experience that left you breathless. Today, transplants and developers have planted them all over Wilmington. A place they didn’t exist at all 30 years ago. You know what’s been lost as a result? Gorgeous live oaks dripping with Spanish moss and miles of longleaf pine forests. And it’s not just Wilmington that suffers from this invasion. You can find palm trees planted all over the coastal plain - all the way up through Raeford. They’re a hideous and tacky eyesore that destroys what North Carolina is really supposed to look like and it’s a threat to our natural heritage. If you want palms… if you want banana trees, move further South. 🙏🏼

The people who plant palm trees in the desert use a limited amount of water they have and give the palm tree just one watering that gives it life, and this watering is enough for it to continue its growth for many long years
