Congratulations! I do echo the other comments... is is odd that MPs pledge allegiance to the Crown. Looked it up: "The Crown is the source of legal authority in the UK. Courts, laws, and the government derive their authority from the Crown. Swearing allegiance to the Crown is a way of acknowledging this legal and constitutional foundation​." Good to finally crack who has authority over the courts, since the judiciary and Parliament keep pointing their fingers at each other! I also learned (would be good to confirm if this is correct): "While the traditional oath emphasizes loyalty to the Crown, there have been discussions and some flexibility in how the oath can be taken. For example, MPs can add personal affirmations of service to their constituents after taking the official oath, reflecting their dual responsibilities to the Crown and the electorate​."
