It made sense in the Goonies and Stranger Things. There is no reasonable explanation for how it could have worked in TROS.

At least for stranger things it made more sense. As the dagger is older than the Death Star. So it makes no sense it’d map to something the never existed before it on a planet it was on until after destroyed

That moment in Srranger Things made more sense. It was in a memory. A place that wasn't entirely real. That moment is Star Wars had an supposedly ancient dagger relying on the shape of the Death Star's wreckage

It's a Goonies reference you philistine! In Stranger Things it made sense, just like in Goonies, so it's a good reference and in RoS made no sense at all so it was a terrible reference.
