This is a double edged sword. Who made these kids ungrateful in the first place?

That is one hell of a way to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Seems your mom raised someone more interested in gifts than their soul.

Children get overexcited on Christmas Day. Good parents deal with it calmly. Bad parents pre-arrange fake presents to burn, film their unhappy children and put it on social media for the approval of unknown tools. Sign of the Times. 😔

Ah yes, the good old fashioned traumatized child ploy, it always gets them to behave and never ever gives them deep seated resentment they hold on to for the next 40 years. Shit like this is the reason why my parents spend Christmas alone now.

Yeah no. Trust me, as your kids get older and they reach her 30s and 40s, they don’t remember much of their childhood. You know what they do remember? Really happy times and trauma. And this is all about trauma. Deliberate and cruel. Abysmal parenting

Bad parenting. Think about this lesson from the eyes of a child... When someone doesn't behave like you want, burn it down. Doesn't matter if the parent is "right" or if the kid "deserves it". It's not good parenting because it doesn't actually correct the behavior. It leads to deviance. A good parent would search for the root of the behavior, which is likely the parents own parenting.

This isn't cool. Making your kids cry, recording it, then posting it, is some pretty low shit.

When my daughter was 7, she went through a phase of being just absolutely horrible, to the point where I had been warning her for weeks that Santa was watching and would not come if she kept behaving that way. Well, she was particularly naughty on Christmas Eve, and the next morning the only thing she had from Santa was a letter in her stocking about how deeply disappointed he was in her behavior, and that he was going to keep her presents, and MAYBE if she straightened up, he might make a special trip sometime in the coming months to drop them off. Worked like a charm, and Santa came by randomly one night in June. We never had to do that again.
