I did the same with my husband, also if they were upset about something. I also bragged about something our children helped me with that day - did you see the car, X and Y cleaned it out and wiped it down. And then he would look at them and say, you did?! I’ll change and we’ll take a look. They would jump up and down, give him a chance to change clothes, take him by the hands and he would tell them how good they did, and make a big deal about it. We would start a chore with Let’s surprise dad and… oh, he’s going to like this….
