I mean I can see this having possibilities.

How much you wanna bet 🤑 Jessica becomes the new Bogeyman 50 years from now, you mention the Bogeyman Who? Oh you mean Jessica 🤣

seems like it switches brain from amygdala to frontal cortex

Very smart. I like this distraction because it doesn't reward them with anything.

Dude wtf is this witchcraft. Its like a debug mode or something.

They wanna know who TF Jessica is. 💀😭

A lot of temper tantrums are from the child's brain overloading the Jessica thing is so out of the blue that maybe it does work.

I wish I would have thought of that, just a random name! They stop because they have no idea who that is! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My favorite part of this is how no one changes the name

Anything that distracts them is a winner for stopping tantrums.

Kids gunna go to school and all be traumatized by the quiet girl named Jessica

It’s just distracting them. I used to just exclaim, “Omg! I just saw Santa!” And they would stop crying instantly and start looking for Santa.

Lordy Lordy... Hey! Whatever works within reason *redirection*

Sure, if you want to ignore why that child is in distress…maybe tired, should have been put down for a nap maybe an hour ago? Shitty parents do this, then post it on social media for clicks…congratulations, you feckless parents.

So many neighbours going to be thinking oh they have a Jessica living there now 😂

This is shitty, lazy parenting. Most kids do have a root reason for a tantrum; it's just harder work to figure out what's really going on. This cool, clever trick may work but I hope you're proud of yourselves because it's gaslighting bullshit and kids DO REMEMBER YOUR BULLSHIT.

Husband tried it. Rhonda does not work. 😂

My sister babysat a lot and made up a neighbor, "Sally". She would threaten to give toys and treats to "Sally" if they misbehaved. This "Jessica" trick works because kids can be either inquisitive and/or territorial. Jessica could be a new friend to play with or an unseen rival.

I used to just start crying. It worked every time except once.

@IndianaGPA BRILLIANT

Logic: they cry to seek attention and instead its this JESSICA having their attention 🙃

Sure, confuse the shit out of a kid that's trying to understand the world and create trust issues in the process. It might be less harmful to shoot it with a tranquilizer dart.

They quiet down cuz they know Jessica Jones coming 😂

Just used it the other day and a family friend thought I was nuts. It worked great!

oohhh.,,, I would’ve yelled out Santa where are you Santa? I have a bad girl or a boy here…. !!😆😆

I use the name Bertha, works everytime

No, don't do this. Whether it works or not should not be any parents criteria. This may work now but it teaches a child to disregard others, maybe even themselves. Take the time, hug the child, listen to them, comfort them. Be patient while they are learning to cope with life.

I tried it with my 3 year old. Can confirm it works. She forgot why she was upset and ran around for 10 minutes searching for the infamous unknown “Jessica”.

Who the heck is Jessica

Not with my two year old son, he looked me dead in my face and said “I don’t want Jessica”

Doesn't matter what you yell. It's a distraction.

BRILLIANT!!!! For all of the Jessica's out there, You are saving parents!!!!!! This is hilarious! And it freaking WORKS!!

Oh, yes. Distracting is a game changer. 🤣

It’s so funny. I say that wishing I had this when my children were toddlers

My kids' headstart teachers used to do this. The name was Ms. Jingles tho
