Stratosphere was our biggest and heaviest character on #Transformers ROTB. He was a real challenge to deal with on the Modeling, Texturing, and Rendering side. He had 1434 UDIMs due to his immense scale and was made up of tens of thousands of objects. His level of detail was truly something else. His vehicle form was also a behemoth. We had also built a mortar for his robot form and a cannon for his vehicle form but neither of these made it into the film as his part in the final battle was cut out. He was originally supposed to help out in the final battle, using both of these weapons against the Sweepers and Predacons. The decision to cut him from the final act came very late as all of his assets were final at that point. We were never told the reason why his role was cut from the film. I had to re-design my texturing system in Mari when working on him to ensure that it could handle such a complex and large character. I had to simplify a lot of the procedural systems and even had to branch off some of them into their own files to ensure that artists could work with somewhat decent performance. We ran into a lot of issues pushing him through our pipeline, both as a model as well as rendering him due to the sheer amount of objects and textures that had to be processed. For shots, it was requested by Lighting that we reduce his memory footprint as Google had complained he was taking up too much memory and their I/O for rendering on the cloud was being affected. The leadership team and I decided that the best way to do this was to half the texel density on the parts that wouldn't be visible in our approved shots and to also half the resolution of the textures in the parts not visible to camera. This allowed us to optimize his memory footprint both in shots as well as storage and I/O. It was massive technical undertaking working on Stratosphere, so much so that we had to delay getting him into shots as we simply couldn't push him through with our normal tooling. I really enjoyed the challenge that he posed for us as a team. Well unfortunately, I cannot continue playing Mortal Shell 2. I just had a massive game-breaking bug that deleted my entire save after teleporting. On top of that, creating a new save bugs my game out to the point where I can't move my camera around, my sound is permanently turned off, and I have error messages all over my settings. Keep in mind, I reinstalled the game, verified the integrity of the files, and nothing worked. At this point, I'm purely at the mercy of the team fixing this. Luckily, I have another save file because I had just been grinding, but even when I load that other save, all of these problems still exist. I can't look around, and things are just completely broken. Wout Charlotte 🪻

Sometime in August 2022, during my final year at UNN, I was representing the school football team in the High Institutions Football League (HIFL). We had 25 registered players, and I worked relentlessly to hold down my position as the DMF throughout the tournament. I started and played every single game. When the final was announced and we were told it would be aired on DSTV, I told everyone I know, my family, my friends, my coursemates, my crush, that I’d be playing live on TV by 4 p.m. on Saturday. They all promised to tune in and watch me. Match day came, and we started on a high note. I was everywhere in midfield like Casemiro, breaking up play, winning tackles, dictating tempo. Then, barely 5 minutes into the game, I went in to dispossess an opponent and he blasted the ball straight into my John Thomas. That pain? One of the worst I’ve ever felt in my life. It was unbearable. To make matters worse, when the medical team arrived, all they could offer me was pure water. Meanwhile, my manhood felt like it was on fire and my stomach was cramping badly. I stepped out briefly for treatment, and our assistant coach looked at me and asked, “Pablochukwu, make I sub you?” I screamed, “No, sir I dey okay!” This was the biggest game of my life. My people were at home watching. I wasn’t about to leave them hanging. So I went back in and played the full 90 minutes in excruciating pain, but still delivered a masterclass. We won and I bagged my medal! Immediately we returned to UNN the next day, I ran straight to Hilltop to check if my thing is still working properly and after a little this and that. I confirmed everything was intact.
