Lydia Ko was NOT upset about just missing out on 59 but rather excited about shooting 60. Ko didn't actually start thinking about 59 until after she made birdie on her 15th hole (No. 6) to get to 10 under. The next hole, the par-5 seventh, she faced a 6-footer for birdie ... and missed. She'd go on to birdie the last two holes to shoot 12-under 60. "That would've been nice to hole that one, but who knows, maybe if I holed that one, I might not have holed the other two." The mind of a champion.

Ryan Fox says the way he played the final hole to win The Open with a birdie was the best hole he’s ever played in his life. He also said he told his caddie on the tee he was going to take it on and try to win the tournament right there: “Yeah, definitely the first part. I mean, I hit two shots exactly how I wanted to hit them. I didn't feel anything for the putt; everything was shaking that much. I was just happy to hit it somewhat near the hole, and to see it go in was incredible. “I did say to my caddie, Dean, on the tee that we were going to take it on, that I was going to try to win the tournament, and I'd live with the consequences if I stuffed it up. To go out there and execute, that drive is not a very comfortable tee shot, obviously, and to hit it in the fairway and give myself a chance was huge. “Then I landed on a good number. I think I had 160 metres to the hole. The breeze was a little down off the left. Obviously everything is a bit jammed up there, so it was just a solid 9, and I hit it exactly where I wanted to hit it. I think I screamed to it, "Please be good," in the air, and it was. “To cap it off with a putt -- everyone practises on the green, I guess, you've got to a putt to win a major championship, to win The Open. It's not like that in real life. It's not a very comfortable feeling. Notah Begay changed his mind at the last moment on what club to hit (initially wood, then driver) on his first hole of the day, No. 10 at Scioto CC. No. 10 is one of the best par-4s on Scioto. Shorter drives leave a blind tee shot. Longer drives can roll downhill into the rough or creek. Players develop a strategy and generally know the day before what club they’ll use off the tee here. He took a bogey to start the day.
