Today, I joined a procession from College Square, Kolkata, to honour the indomitable spirit of those who stood against the horrific communal violence and the brutal massacre of Hindus during the Great Calcutta Killings that commenced on August 16, 1946. Under the fearless leadership of Shri Gopal Chandra Mukhopadhyay, our ancestors resisted oppression and forced the perpetrators to retreat. Even today, their courage and fightback remains an inspiration to us. This evening, I was privileged to attend the unveiling ceremony of Shri Gopal Mukherjee’s statue at Alipore, a fitting tribute to the protector of Hindus and a symbol of resilience. Let us never forget this chapter of history and continue to uphold Hindu unity and fighting spirit in the face of adversity. #direct_action_day #GreatCalcuttaKillings
