The "witch" only pretends to lift on the 1st attempt, which causes the mass to unbalance towards one person, making it very difficult to lift as they get over 1/2 the mass. On the 2nd attempt, the "witch" lifts evenly, so they all carry just 1/4 of the mass.

We did this as children, and it works. If you do it in one movement, the lifted person is positively flying off the chair. (We can lift 20kg with one finger for a short time, the trick lies in synchronization, so every finger carries ~1/8 of the person's weight.)

Remember doing this in the 90s, have them lay on the bed and chant "light as feather, stiff as board" and 4 people could lift you up with a couple fingers

With all seriousness.

I was a part of this and we lifted a huge guy, it was weird. I swear there was no hypnosis. We just lifted him.. it was energy, I swear. I’m not a weirdo. Y’all need to try it. It’s bizarre.

Because putting the hands on top of the head and holding them activates the proper lifting shoulder muscles that you wooden think to use prior

good acting + smart trick 👍

How does it work?

Don't forget

Did this as kids, but we used to think in our minds that the person was lighter than air when we put our hands above the head. Mind over matter. You exert a certain muscle strength based on expectation of weight. Example picking up an empty bucket thinking it's full.
