How long do they expect to trap people in a tube on the ground? After 60 minutes they should allow anyone that wants off, OFF.

This Boomer is getting shit done.

I’m sorry, but this goes hard lol

Put him on the federal no-fly list immediately

They need to have rules about letting people off flights. It's nonsense to make them sit like that. He overreacted but he's right in principal. At that point you're being held prisoner until they randomly decide to cancel the flight anyway and return to the gate.

The comments approving of this saying he’s “getting shit done” but let this have been a black man and it would’ve been nothing but monkey jokes.

How many hours did the plane sit on the tarmac waiting? I've been on planes waiting over 6 hours before finally returning to the gate or taking off. I'm with the old man. I didn't pay for 6 hrs of overheating on a plane full of people w/ no food, no drinks, and out of patience.

Sitting on a tarmac for 4 hours is fucking insane. Boomer is a hero.

I’m on his side. People shouldn’t have to sit on runways for hours at a time. Fuck @delta

What his next plane is going to look like.

Opening an emergency exit on the ground, whether the slide deploys or not, can lead to federal charges such as interfering with a flight crew. He may face up to years in prison or fines if deemed a serious case, though there is no update on Delta's course of action yet.

If this happened more often, they would simply go back to the gate sooner or disembark on the gateway.

Passenger mentions a 3-4 hour delay. Need to know if that was away from the gate and entirely a delay held on the aircraft. If yes, they should be required to return to the gate. Why should a plane load of passengers be held captive for that long in those miserable conditions.

Why I’ll never fly into or out of Atlanta. Worst airport by far.

Let me get this straight, he’s going to jump off the plane, walk across the tarmac, find a way to enter the terminal, and then cuss out the gate agent for his inconvenience

welcome to the no fly list

It is absolutely fucking retarded to keep people packed on an airplane on the ground for hours while they’re 10 feet from a jetway. The airline industry needs to figure out a better way.

I don’t agree with passengers taking matters into their own hands but I will say that airlines have to do something different, when a flight is delayed, you cannot keep people in an enclosed environment indefinitely. We know we are never told everything about the delay in what it’s really for and so it just ups the stress. Anything more than 30 minutes is an unacceptable and it is essentially holding people hostage

Good on him. Better than all the sheep that sit there and take it up the ass for hours.

Well, at least you don’t have to worry about seeing this clown flying ever again. That’s a one way ticket to the do not fly list. Bye bye 🤡

I'm not saying he should of done this, but I understand. Fuckin airlines cut the amount of space you have in a seat, charge extra you for 3 inches more of space, charge you for baggage, baggage charges cause delays bc everyone and their mother has to bring a carryon. Flying sucks

The man's out of line, but airlines need to get right themselves. They withhold info re: delays & lie to get all aboard so they can close the door & make their "on-time departure" numbers. Some passengers treat them poorly, but they treat ALL passengers poorly. Jerks.

total boomer attitude. you know who matters MEEEEE. Boomers summed up.

Whoever opened that door just handed Delta's liability insurance carrier a situation they did not price for. I spent three years trying to get my carrier to explain the emergency exit deployment clause to me. They sent a PDF. I printed it.

Quit treating your passengers as cattle. If you are not taking off, get them back to the gate and let them off.

I have come to expect scenes like this from younger generations, but this is a senior citizen. I think my generation, I am 81, has seen it all and would not do something as crazy as this.

At a point, you're no longer a passenger, you are a kidnap victim.

Blame the @TheFAAOnline @USDOT and the Airlines for this nonsense. Keeping someone against their will for hours on a plane outside of the scheduled flight time should constitute IMPRISONMENT CHARGES against the Airlines.

No excuse for this !! But every fucking flight I have taken with Delta in the past 2 months .. all delayed !! Not even nothing from Delta. Just a fucking “ sorry for the delay text”. @Delta

If they know they weren't taking off for 4 hours then they shouldn't have boarded the plane. Let people wait in the terminal. It's absurd that airlines try to keep people trapped in an airplane for so long when they know they aren't going to be taking off. He's a hero. @Delta

Hero These airlines treat you like hostages on the plane during these delays

opened the emergency exit door because the flight was delayed and somehow thought that was going to speed things up

These airlines and airports better figure out that you can’t keep us on the tarmac for hours, WE WILL GET OFF.

I gotta be honest here. I'm with this guy on this, these airlines have no right to keep people on the the tarmac delayed for more then 3 hours per DOT Guidelines:

i’ve been stuck on the tarmac for hours before, but you’d think the emergency door would be the last thing to cross your mind. glad everyone is safe, though that is a guaranteed way to stay put for a lot longer.
