Why do you train patterns instead of decisions?

Hi Joel, I think there’s room for positional play and relational play to work together. To answer your question, in this instance, if I really wanted to land the importance and benefit of getting into the half spaces. It forces the intended outcome. You could evolve this into an attack vs defence scenario that allows for more freedom relationally to make decisions.

Another Airdie Passing Goal The Opener v Raith in their 3v1 win was just another example of the quality football being played by Rhys McCabes' Side • Frizzells' Finish is glorious enough with the Outside of the Left Foot • His half-turn receiving it kills his marker • Dean McMaster constant movement to look for the ball & then his weight of pass into Frizzell is fantastic 3 different line breaking passes in this move aswell where a lot of teams would play down line or put it into Box on half-way. I'll not bore of shouting up teams that "PLAY FOOTBALL" because in Scotland... most DONT

My #SundayShare is 2 v 1 practice looking at forward passing and movement to receive. A key task is off the ball movement - players must time their run to receive in the central channel (which defenders cannot enter) to progress to the final third. Coaching points: · Positioning to receive: ideally on the half turn. · Movement off the ball: looking for space and angles to receive. · Decision-making: timing of runs and the pass. · Technique – weight of pass; also angle. · Creativity: core moves, especially blind side runs, diagonal run/straight ball and vice versa. A note last night in the first half. We really did play some excellent football. Whilst i know Ugbo is, rightfully, coming under some stick of his lack of goals, he offers so much more to how we play. As does Josh Windass, who I am noticing is just about getting the recognition he deserves from the fans. The play in the first half was very different to the second half when those 2 went off. They both offer so much more insofar as overall game than the other options we have in those areas. A few clips below from key moments in the first half. Windass really did run the show in the final third and build up. He comes out of areas to allow straight passes where he is an option for first time reverse balls. He and Pol have really good chemistry down the right as Josh knows he will overlap and beat his man. The awareness from Josh with scanning that i picked out, allowing for high tempo play into space. A note on data: First half vs second half Passes 193 (87% ACC) vs 159 (78% Acc) xG 2.04 vs 0.42 Penalty area entries: 11 vs 6 From runs: 4 vs 2 Touches in the box: 16 vs 7 Long pass rate: 8.29 vs 13.29 Passes per possession: 4.11 vs 2.96 Wedensday's overall game is so much better when U Our game is so much better when Windass and Ugbo play. I know Smith is scoring and credit to him. But we just dont have the mechanisms to control a game without Ugbo and Josh. We cant get it to the final third in control. He can find offensive players with or without pressure. ♤ A thinker on the ball, he selected passes very well. As requested by Alex Miller yesterday, a look at our out of possession shape in the first half. 1: (10 secs) - Wednesday in a very narrow high block in a 523 out of possession. It only looked like this when the ball is central. Nowrich rotate (change positions during play) a lot and this narrow block denies central rotation. In this clip, they have had rotation in left back position as the CM has dropped into the area and left back on the last line. 2: 20 secs - When the ball went wide or started to move wide, the full back would advance up the pitch to pressure the full back and press full back to full back, whilst the CBs would come out with the Norwich forwards coming in between the lines, as this ball transitions across the pitch you see Sargent come out and Iorfa following tight. Fusire in this clip has come out to mark full back to full back and creating a makeshift back 4. 3: 47 secs - Wednesday get back into their narrow block shape 4: 56 secs - rotation from the front line form Norwich 5: 58 seconds, Palmer comes out of the back line to pick up the rotation and prevent space between lines. As the player turns to our left, Amass starts to come out to pick up full back to full back on the other side. FT Spurs 1 v 2 Fulham That first half was absolutely shambolic and totally unacceptable To any fan or player of this club an XG of 0.01 with 17 crosses and no shots on target v a team that’s not won away from home all season until today . Vicario hang your head in shame again useless. At least in the second half we came out with serious intent. Bergvall was relentless so much great energy.Muani is always dangerous and the class act up front.Kudus with a superb finish to get us back into the game in the 2nd half. Let’s be honest without MVDV’s first half performance we’d of not had a chance to still be in the match. Despite all this it’s just not good enough.4 wins at home since Nov 3 2024 and only 3 home wins out of our last 21 it is a disgrace . With 3 defeats in a week I’d say Frank has got a tough task ahead to keep his job at the club the next 2 fixtures could well determine the outcome of his tenure. This is indefensible there are players out there that are just not good enough imho. Supporting Spurs is just not good for your long term health 🥲 #COYS 🤍💙
