Ed Miliband, "I don't think so" Sophy Ridge, "He made the error as you admit" Ed Miliband, "Prime Ministers make errors, they're fallible, they're human" "As you know I steered well clear of Peter Mandelson when I became leader in 2010" "But people make mistakes, the point about mistakes, you fess up to it, say you made an error, he was clear on that on a number of occasions including yesterday in the House of Commons" Sophy Ridge, "You said you stayed clear of Mandelson when you were leader, what went through your mind when you saw him appointed as US ambassador?" Ed Miliband, "That it could blow up, that it could go wrong. I had conversation with David Lammy about it as well" Sophy Ridge, "What did David Lammy say about it?" Peter Mandelson was director of a Russian company that invests heavily in the arms industry. Starmer was told in November 2024. He made Mandelson ambassador to the US anyway. And when I asked whether he knew about Mandelson's Russian links today, he wouldn't answer.

Sophy Ridge confronts Wes Streeting: its easy to condemn Mandelson now, but why wasn't he ruled out as ambassador? Streeting defends the appointment but says more info has since come out. So you were ok with him staying at Epsteins house after Epstein was convicted? Got it.
