Lighthouse location rework As we've already mentioned, one of the key changes coming with update 1.1.5.0 will be a Lighthouse rework. The most noticeable change will be the placement of Rogues: their base will move from the water treatment plant to the chalet area. This will make the vast industrial area much more accessible for exploration, looting, and tactical maneuvers. Accordingly, the chalet will now be a fortified position, surrounded by observation posts manned by Rogues. A makeshift UN checkpoint will appear on the central section of the main road overlooked by chalet - an important cover in a previously completely exposed position. In addition, new small points of interest will appear throughout the location: Rogue caches, abandoned outposts, observation posts - and even an underground route beneath the cliffs. We've also worked to isolate PMC spawns: new cliffs and vegetation have been added to some spots to provide more room to maneuver at the start of a raid. With the update, Lighthouse will become the third location with a BTR route. It will run along the main road, passing through the village and the water treatment plant. There will be no more landmines in the location - except for those restricting the playable area and blocking access to Lightkeeper’s peninsula. Finally, the way Rogues treat PMCs will change. For years teams have been using Expo as a way to introduce a new screen or feature to an existing app. It made feature development fast but it required adding some complexity to manage. That's no longer the case. You can add Expo to your existing apps "in isolation". Gabriel Donadel will cover this in depth on stage at Chain React Conf today.

The CS2 update we have been waiting for is finally here. Valve has created a Beta branch for animgraph2 for third person animations. This is NOT an April fools joke. While everyone was watching the launch of Artemis II, Valve suddenly released what they've been working on for the past couple of years. What this means is that the entire animation system for third person models has been completely redone. No longer does it use the unoptimized Half-Life: Alyx system. This significantly reduces packet size. You can now tell when someone is counter-strafing, and properly predict their movements based on visual feedback. Another massive change here is that the player's view now is accurate to the player model, meaning that we have a variable player height of +-4 units. You'll immediately notice that the player seems shorter. This completely changes many many angles, as well as many utility lineups, particularly when standing on slopes. Notice in my video example how you can no longer see over the Dust2 A site boxes from A ramp. The change is currently in Beta, so it's all subject to change. I will be testing it out extensively and making a video about my thoughts. First impressions: I am VERY excited about this, more so than the Artemis II rocket taking humans back to the moon for the first time in forever.
