Path tracing adds shadows to everything which is also indirect bounce light shadows. You can see as my character walks through the mansion, the shadows and the reflections on armor have no leaks and always correct.

What if drop shadows actually look like real shadows? We are using Omma to explore a new kind of canvas that employs real-light approximations rather than simple 2D drop shadows. It runs on WebGPU and uses real-time path tracing to simulate more realistic shading. It also supports SVG shapes. The Z-index defines actual depth, too (objects with a lower z-index would be affected by shadows of other objects).

The idea with averaging several soft shadows have worked! And thanks to SDF, it's possible to have super soft long shadows! The demonstrated effect is simulating dynamic global ambient (sky) occlusion, rendered only on the GPU. Also, very temporally stable, outside of SDF lods.

Made a tutorial on how I paint dark skin with my wife Mel, hope it helps!! The basic is avoid grayish colors, I always increase the saturation of my dark colors for shadows, if your shadows are warm you want to do your light colder (blues, purples blablah)...

#DyingLightTheBeast uses very simplified geometry for its Ray Tracing and shadows are the most affected by this. Anything with fine, detailed geometry like Trees Shadows looks better with normal shadow maps than with the RT option. On top of that, distant RT shadows animate at a lower update rate and look choppy compared to the regular shadow maps.
