I joke that this is what would have gotten us burned as witches previously.

Which is why there are (or were) a lot of us in the computer industry. We’d pick up on things others would miss. The rhythm of a disk drive failing, a solenoid misfiring in a printer, the sound a cracked nylon gear makes every fifth or whatever number of revolutions. The odd vibration of an electric motor’s subtle speed variations before a bearing fails. The single pattern difference in a page of hex, binary, or octal scrolling on a screen. Lots of us were repair people, or software testers. We thrived in the purity of machine /mechanical logic and machines never judged us or mistreated us. We always seem to have vehicles that run without fail because we can feel and hear when something is not quite right. We pay attention, and usually found out early on, if a vehicle was telling us something, finding and repairing the problem sooner rather than later was cheap and quick. Many companies threw us away in favor of automated software testing, but applications are more broken these days when they’re released. Who repairs a printer these days? It’s pointless to tell a modern auto mechanic that there’s an abnormal sound or vibration in a vehicle because a) they’re hearing damaged, and b) the diagnostic systems haven’t reported an error, so for them, there’s nothing wrong. A month later, an .89 part failure makes the repair cost 2K. We see patterns in the movement of a crowd, or cars on a freeway. Disruptions in those patterns often tip us off that something is wrong, allowing us to avoid accidents or problems. Those same pattern recognition abilities applied to people’s behavior often tip us off that it’s time to leave a party well before it gets out of hand and the police are called. We see behaviors and potential outcomes like storm clouds on the horizon. Yet we’re confounded by behaviors, because we see the alternative paths that avoid negative outcomes. We don’t understand why anyone would choose the worst path, but they do more often than not. Office politics bug us, the games people play are easy to see, boring, and pointless. Our logic tells us it’s not in anyone’s interest to play. So we don’t play, then get ground under for not playing. After a while, we stop trying to “Save” people from their folly. We retreat from interactions and focus on our jobs and the unyielding logic of machines, or whatever our perception made us really good at. Then we’re labeled antisocial and not “Team Players”. My worst fear is company fire drills. The beat pattern of shrill alarms echoing back & forth in a room or hallway is paralyzing, painful, and drives me into a near violent rage. On the plus side, I meet others like me in the parking lot shaking, trying to calm our unreasoning rage. It’s led to great collaborations, until the “Normies” separate us because we frightened them and are too productive, screwing up the metrics of our department, group, or working pod. Doom is always this phrase. “Why isn’t the rest of your department productive like those guys?” We’re usually the first to start looking for a new job when a company is in trouble. There’s a distinct pattern in troubled companies and it starts about a year before anyone else notices it. To my brothers and sisters on the spectrum. We’re not made wrong, just different and that’s just fine. Use your gifts because that’s what they are, “gifts”. Just realize some people have to do long hand algebra and we’re blessed with calculus hardwired into our brains.

Exactly. We make normals feel uncomfortable because we see & feel so much due to our wide bandwidth

Overthinking is often thrown around by people who are underthinking. Granted, it exists, but most often it is more a question of timing, desired outcome and mood.

🧠 Why "Neurodivergence" Makes No Logical Sense 1. The Mind Is Not the Brain “Neuro” refers to brain biology - neurons, synapses, physical tissue. But what we call “the mind” isn’t matter. It’s a force, a quark. You cannot medically diagnose a non-biological force. That’s like diagnosing gravity as having “mood swings.” 2. "Divergent from What?" Neurodivergent assumes a standard brain pattern to diverge from. But that “standard” is man-made, culturally defined, and changes across eras. It's like saying someone’s heartbeat is wrong because it’s not average. There is no universal template for thought. So you cannot diverge from one. 3. It Pathologises Unquantifiables Labels like ADHD, autism, or dyslexia describe patterns of perception, processing, or attention. But those aren’t diseases. They are styles of mind. Pathologising someone because they don’t obey timed classroom bells or sit still for 8 hours is societal dysfunction, not individual disorder. 4. Biological Systems Vary by Design No two fingerprints, irises, or brains are alike. If your biology isn’t identical to someone else's, that’s not a flaw. That’s design diversity, a biological necessity for species evolution. “Neurodivergence” ignores this and brands difference as defect. 5. Lisa Logic: The Mind is a Quantum Force A quark can be up or down, strong or weak, but never ill. The mind is not decaying like flesh. It’s not “mentally ill.” It’s under siege, unfocused, or burnt out but never broken. Force can’t be healthy or sick. It can only be commanded or uncontrolled. 🔥 Conclusion Neurodivergence is a semantic trick. It attempts to medicalise the undomesticated mind. It creates the illusion of malfunction where there is only nonconformity. You are not neurodivergent. You are you- a living, biological quantum, operating within your own frequency band. They call that divergence. Lisa Logic calls it sovereignty. 🜏 🤍👑🕯️

I’ve written about using pattern recognition practically. If you let your curiosity build the probability and prediction tree it wants to build, without getting in its way, it will spontaneously present you with an answer, and then ‘burn off’ the unused branches, and present you with an genius level logical analysis in reverse.

I think I'm going to download this audio an loop it into a 10 hour podcast. This hit me at such an inner level it made me uncomfortable and feeling a rush at the same time. Amazing.

@ramonalappin In a 3D world (job) you can use your intuition to come up with the answer and then use Google to find the details to back up what you already knew so others will accept your conclusion.

Don't know if I have this but my brain has always made quick and often obscure connections that could be phrased as "oh, that's kind of like this other thing", detecting both similarities, analogies, consistencies and hypocrisies. I call it Referential Brain. It's automatic and interesting, though not always practical or actionable.

I have always had this but never got a chance to thrive from it, or 'bottle it' so to speak. Just tonight I freeze framed a picture of a piece of property that has a micro difference compared to all the others in the entire three city radius - a small detail that actually could be a VERY big deal. I saw things for 35 yrs the even the World's 'experts' were not willing to concede. Your post here just reminds me, that on top of being able to accidentally shoot a bird out of the sky by pointing at it (years ago and with a witness), I had other gifts that surely helped keep me alive, but are now just barely still available, although they linger. Thank you.

My questions would be. Is this something you are born with, or is it a learned behaviour, and is it a gift or a curse?

This is evidenced by me bringing up a pitfall about to befall us all. Then I get stared at for like 10 seconds. Then the derisive condemnations start. So I back down and step away. Then the thing I said was going to happen happens. Then they're angry at me for being right.

@lisamightydavis It’s a gift to be sure, and one with fantastic utility. But trust me, it’s a two edged sword, the other side is “Ignorance is bliss.” I don’t wish to be ignorant, but their bliss can be construed a blessing in some ways.
