@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 For me the hit was one thing but it's the celebrations and lack of concern that I feel he deserves more than just 1 game

There is a chance that there wouldn’t have been a suspension at all based solely on speculation of the slowmo footage of that hit. There is a fair argument for a “Bang Bang” play, but Desman’s actions afterward dissolved that argument immediately and reinforced that that was a dirty hit by a dirty player and a weak coach was fine with that.

I'm no fan of First Take but this time you guys nailed it. The 1 game suspension is a joke but the bigger issue is LR leading their program. All hat and no cattle but as an ND fan, I hope USC keeps him coaching for the full contract term. They will be irrelevant in CFB except when stuff like this happens.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 He deserves 5 or more game suspension Cause what if dante is affected more than just a concussion? What if he lose his senses, gets paralyzed and never plays football again?

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 THe NCAA cant give him 5 games for the hit jesus, read the rules. Are we doing this for every targeting violation which has happened 12 times this year.. Sure USC can do its own punishment thats in they prerogative.

I’ve said this before. I’ll say it again. These running quarterbacks HAVE to learn to protect themselves. How you ask? Learn to slide BEFORE the defenders are zeroed in. Better yet,run out of bounds. These quarterbacks today are FAR too comfortable with sliding down at the last minute. When two athletes,with 4.6 speed are running at each other at full speed,the defenders have a split second to make an adjustment. They’ve been trained since pop warner football to STOP the ball carrier by any means necessary. Was the hit vicious? Yes. We don’t know what his intent was and no one is a mind reader. All that said,the post celebration was classless and ignorant. It warranted a one game suspension. Multiple games or season long? Absolutely not. If you’re going to suspend him multiple games or even a season,then that needs to be the protocol going forward for EVERYONE called for targeting.

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 The dancing made my blood boil. Zero accountability and lack of respect. Karma on the way for USC this season

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 @USCAlumni should be demanding the suspension and removal of Desmond and Riley!

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Come on @bigten. Suspend him the rest of the season

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 I agree the conference should take the lead last year we had players praying and just shining as Leader athletes now we have players that target hits and celebrate severe injury and than we had gross classless behavior like Texas Longhorns these Coaches need to be penalized!

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 Please get someone other than this clown to talk about a fraud when he could t coach rec league

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 Finebaum has never played competitive sports lol they need to teach these QBs to slide early and not risk getting hit like he did. It was unfortunate

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Desman knew what happened when he hit him he could see he look at Moore and he flipped over him and he even looked back and then ran off celebrating that’s why people are mad he deserves to be suspended indefinitely

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 One game is fine. He made a mistake. Move on

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Nobody’s talking about the fact that you already get suspended for the first half of the next game for targeting. So essentially this additional suspension from usc is only a suspension for the second half.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Y'all don't even want to watch real football

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Stephens doesn’t play or practice until Moore returns to team. Then Stephens sits 3 games when Moore returns to compete in game.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 The celebration was stupid and I understand the hit deserve the flag but it really was a bang bang situation when running quarterbacks slide

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 You are all bums. 6’3” 225 lbs running full speed down hill. Defender has to make a leg tackle and the QB slides 200 milliseconds before contact. That’s the same amount of time a MLB player has to swing a bat. ROT is the disease of stupid people.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Paulbum fried him 😂

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 I’ve asked this before and I really do want to hear from folks like Dan on this… is the QB slide putting them in more danger than before when they would just take hits? It feels like they are in a much more vulnerable position than if they just ran and stayed up.

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 Agree 100%....that USC coach is just as much as trash bag as that kid...next time someone runs out of bounds near him maybe they lower the helmet into his face, see if he notices that

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Paul said that Riley waited until Sunday to suspend Desman. Did Paul knew this game ended late Saturday night?

@stephenasmith @finebaum @danorlovsky7 Well said!

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Lifetime supporter and fan of USC with that said there is absolutely no excuse what happened on the field and the reaction on the USC sideline. There needs to be more accountability from Riley on down.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Your team reflects your coaching. Lincoln Riley is a joke of a coach.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 This is not the first time SC players celebrated an opponent being down and hurt under Riley. This is Riley’s culture.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 The celebration was 10 times worse than the hit

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Paul your over the target but I think they have all already self destructed

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 He made himself defenseless though

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 Yall overreacting. He was ejected, that's the rule. He made the hit and got ejected. Time to move on.

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 I agree with everything except the notion the QB is defenseless. QBs have to learn to protect themselves, and sliding last minute like leaves too much gray area. Im glad the kid is ok but hopefully QBs learn from this

@finebaum @stephenasmith @danorlovsky7 @espn @TheHerd obviously yall ain’t ever played football . Also that’s not a targeting play even by definition of the fake ncaa rules that was made up in 2013
