David founder Peter Rahal on why there's not much innovation in food: "Food entrepreneurs are predominately luddites. A lot of talented entrepreneurs just don’t go into food. Because it’s hard. And it’s not obvious how to differentiate. Nutrition science is not seen as a real science. This leads to a lot confusion in the market. For example, the economics don’t work to study the effect of a potato on the human body. There’s just not enough money in potatoes to justify the R&D budget to learn more about them. And so there’s actually not a lot of money going into the research and science of nutrition. Peter Thiel has a quote “If you ever put science behind something, it’s not a real science.” And so nutrition science is not a real science. But it can be. There’s just no money in it. And what is food? It’s really just understanding biochemistry. But it just doesn’t exist. And I think it’s probably driven by the economics of it. So I think that’s the main reason. Jeremy Lin says "inexperience" and "fatigue" completely ruined the Spurs in the final 30 seconds of Game 2: "The Spurs have so much heart. 14-0 run to come back into the game, but the last 30 seconds, just so much inexperience — whether you want to call it youth, whether you want to call it fatigue, it just wasn't it. The first play: another isolation for Wemby with 30 seconds, tough shot over Mitchell Robinson. Then you have a turnover, then you have a foul. I mean, they had the game where you have the ball with 12 seconds left, it's a tie game, there's no way you should be able to ever lose that game. And so to me, if the roles were reversed, the Knicks get the ball, what do they do? They will immediately find Brunson and he will immediately find the mismatch that he wants. There's, you know, one or two pretty significant items, but I think they can be reached. Now it's really up to President Zelenskyy to get it done. And I would also say the European nations, they have to get involved a little bit, but it's up to President Zelenskyy. And if they'd like, I'll be at that next meeting. I’ve already put in the effort. For me it’s autopilot. It’s second nature. I sometimes do the study of setups. But like it’s become second nature to me. Because I’ve done it for so many years. It’s a reflex. I don’t have to put in a lot of effort anymore. It’s like driving a car. When you’re new it’s a lot of effort. Especially if you are in Europe at least like. 13 year 14 years ago when I was trying to get my driver’s license. Most cars were manual so you have to do the shifting. You have to pay attention to all the signs. All the traffic rules, and it takes a lot of effort. Now it’s second nature - I don’t have to think when I drive. It’s all reflexes. Like parallel parking. That was a really hard thing for me to learn. It took a lot of effort. And now I can just perfectly parallel park 9 times out of 10. Without any kind of effort. And if I had put in some effort. I could do it 10 times out of 10. It’s the same thing with trading. Same thing. It’s the same thing with anything you want to learn. It’s a skill.”

However, Quentin Tarantino had written the role with Forster in mind and had already promised him the part. Tarantino explains… “I wrote Jackie Brown, and I decided at some point in writing the script that Robert Forster would be terrific as Max Cherry. So, while I’m still writing the script, I bump into Robert Forster - we go to the same coffee shop. ….so I decided I’m gonna give him the part, because I figure, look, this would be a big, big deal part. So if I don’t give him the part, then once I’m done with it and it gets out in the town, then it’s gonna be Gene Hackman and Paul Newman and people like that, and it would be pretty hard to say no to. But if I just give him the part right now, I’ve got the juice to get it through, and now I can’t take it back because I wouldn’t be a man of my word. So to lock myself into that decision, I give it to him before I finish writing it. And then now comes the time to do it. Robert De Niro reads it, and he wants to be in it, but he wants to play Max. And I go, “Well, look, you would be a fantastic Max, but I’ve already given that to Robert Forster, and I’m a man of my word. Okay, so tell me about this Louis character.” And I go, “You would consider playing Louis?” “Yeah, it’s a good character. It’s a good movie. I wanna be part of it. It’s a good character. I wanted the other character, but yeah, this is a good character. I’d be happy to play it.” I go, “Well, you didn’t let me know that before.” He goes, “Well, I didn’t wanna let you off the hook.
