To truly study church history is to cease to be Catholic! I personally have studied the early church writers on various subjects like the Eucharist & sola scriptura and there is no abounding evidence that the early church believed identically to Roman Catholicism today!

Protestants need to be far more discerning about celebrating Joe Schmid's conversion to Catholicism. He's sadly straight into bad theology from the get go. Take a look. And he's already vocal in telling people to "Embrace Rome." This is the Rome that says "it is altogether necessary to salvation for every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff." (Pope Boniface) and anathematizes justification by faith alone.
