Awkward

And? This is same thing he says in the section on muhaymin, as I explained the video. Read that again, "the Qur’ānic claim to a confirmatory relationship with previous scriptures is coupled with a claim to constituting the ultimate arbiter, vis-à-vis Jews and Christians, of what these previous scriptures are saying.” So it’s confirming them but would mean it interprets them, not (as Paul said) it decides what is true and false in them.

“This reading coheres well with the fact that the surahs undeniably claim the authority to determine what the revelatory deposit of Jews and Christians actually means AND CONSISTS in. This is exemplified by accusations that the Jews or Israelites "shift words from their PLACES"

Yes, this is what I said in the video when I quoted Sinai. The problem is the Quran never specifies content beyond broad generalization. For example, it says the Torah is scripture, which would be content. Sinai doesn’t then say that means the Quran determines what is true and false in the Torah, as Paul claimed.

The Qurʿān not exactly specifying which verses are added and corrupted is a nonsensical objection. The Qurʿān describing itself as the guardian and the criterion clearly shows that anything that explicitly contradicts the Qurʿān from the previous scriptures is not revelation

The Quran never says that, and merely being a guardian doesn’t mean the Quran claims to be correcting. Especially since, in multiple verses, it says it’s confirming what is with us (e.g. Surah 2:41, 91, 101, 3:3-4, 4:47; 5:68; 10:37, 94). So it’s not a nonsensical objection. Even if muhaymin means criterion (and it doesn’t) it still would be confirming our scriptures, not correcting.

According to Sinai, that’s exactly what being a guardian means (forming an unimpeachable standard about the meaning and content of prior revelations, and being a final arbiter over what their revelation means and consists of). And as Sinai points out, confirming ≠ repeating

And then says that in the context of confirming the previous scriptures, not correcting. Plus, nowhere does the Quran ever specify beyond saying Torah, Gospel, Psalms, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord. That is what the Quran specifies as the content, which is what we have been pointing out. That’s the problem for the Quran. So this changes nothing for the Islamic dilemma, as I pointed out in the video.

It’s hilarious watching these Muslims panic and scramble to come up with a dispute when they’re know their religion has been proven false so many times. 😂

The coping in the comment section here is just demonstrating they don’t get the problem either.

@hendersalderon 😂 then it should be easy for you quote Sinai and show me where muhaymin means showing what is true and false in the prior scriptures, but we both know you can’t. Cope harder, buddy.

"Paul Williams was caught lying" 2 min later: "Paul Williams was referring to this meaning, but I don't agree with his interpretation although that's what scholars agree on and I know jackshit about Arabic, plz gimme clicks for my rage bait videos"

“Paul Williams caught lying”, 1 minute later Paul Williams was referring to this part but I disagree with his interpretation. There’s no need to be so angry and polemical.

@LeoWarren25 Sure, so where did Sinai say in that section the Quran, being an authority, determines what is true and false in the content of the prior scriptures?

Academics speak in nuance. Both you and Paul are biased, but you seem particularly personal and polemical. The truth isn’t always going to be so simple, and you aren’t always going to be able to score quick points against the Muzzies.

This’s pure desperation lol! We don’t need the Qur’an to prove the Bible has been altered as many Christian scholars themselves acknowledge this fact. If the Bible is demonstrably corrupted & there r multiple conflicting versions, then the fictional dilemma completely falls apart
