This is fearmongering dressed up as voter protection. DOJ is asking for voter-roll data to check whether states are properly maintaining their rolls and identifying ineligible registrations. That is not the same thing as “kicking people off.” Eligible citizens should be protected from wrongful removal — absolutely. But outdated, duplicate, deceased, or otherwise ineligible registrations should not remain on voter rolls either. Accurate voter rolls protect every legitimate voter and strengthen confidence in elections. Instead of frightening people, explain what DOJ is actually asking for and then debate whether the safeguards are adequate.

Did you know that the largest and most comprehensive study of mail in voting analyzed ballot affidavit envelopes from the 2020 Presidential Election held in Maricopa County, Arizona. The study found that 10.2% of ballot affidavit signatures approved by then Recorder Adrian Fontes and his team could not have been made by the voter registered to vote that ballot. And Recorder Fontes even dumped those signatures into the voter's registration records ensuring the bad signatures can be used to approve future ballots. Recorder Richer continued the Fontes traditions. This is a significant finding supporting the fear expressed by the Carter-Baker Commission in 2005 that the system of voting most susceptible to fraud is mail in voting.
