The Wellcome Trust, the world’s largest medical charity, has donated £10 million to fund the project. The scientists aim to create a fully synthetic human chromosome, which represents about 2% of the entire human genome. Their long-term goal is to eventually construct the entire human genome from scratch. Do you see what is happening here?
