Despite whay it seems, seeking asylum in the EU is NOT a walk in the park. Asylum is not granted to people trying to flee ordinary criminal charges, especially if it involves serious non-political crimes OR if the individual is simply abusing the asylum system to evade justice.

He was there long enough to learn english and swedish. He then decided to come to the UK to claim asylum. He was given benefits and a place to live.
